Revs sign midfielder Jeremiah White

Jeremiah White

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution today signed midfielder Jeremiah White. He will be formally added to the team’s roster upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and is expected to join the team for training next week. Per league and club policies, further contract details were not released.

White, 29, was signed after an extended training spell with the Revolution during the team’s preseason. He most recently played with Poland’s GKS Belchatow, and previously played with current Revolution midfielder Benny Feilhaber at Denmark’s AGF Aarhus.

“Jeremiah is an out-and-out attacking player who we believe can help us stretch defenses with his speed and ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, especially out wide,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said. “After having him in for parts of preseason, we’re looking forward to his return to the team and addition to the roster.”

After a decorated collegiate career at Wake Forest where White scored 37 goals and added 29 assists in 67 games, he signed with Serbia’s OFK Beograd in January 2004. After a brief stay with the club, he moved to Greece’s Panserraikos for one season. Following his stay in Greece, White signed with France’s FC Gueugnon where he stayed until signing with Aarhus in January 2007. White made 86 appearances with Aarhus, scoring seven goals during three seasons when he helped the club gain promotion to the Danish Superliga alongside Feilhaber.

White left Aarhus in December 2009, and signed with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ettifaq where he stayed for six months before signing with Poland’s GKS Belchatow in the second half of the season.

The Revolution originally drafted White in the third round (23rd overall) of the 2004 MLS SuperDraft, but White pursued playing options abroad instead of signing with Major League Soccer.

White has one cap with the U.S. National Team. He came on as a substitute in the U.S.’ 2-0 win over Sweden in Carson, Calif., on Jan. 19, 2008.

The Revolution opens the 2012 season on Saturday, March 10, on the road against the San Jose Earthquakes at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. The match will be televised by Comcast SportsNet, and 98.5 The Sports Hub will carry the game on the radio.
