FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Revolution continues training this week in Foxborough, Mass., two weeks ahead of its second trip to Tucson, Ariz. on Feb. 20.


The team will conduct two training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will round out the week with morning sessions on Thursday and Friday.

Current training camp roster

An up-to-date preseason roster can be accessed at the team’s website HERE ... this roster will be updated weekly roster so check the web site regularly for the most up-to-date version … click on the CLUB link at the top of the home page, and click the 2012 Preseason Roster (PDF) link in the drop-down menu … as of Monday, eight non-rostered players are in camp with the Revolution: midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer, defender Gabe Mercier, midfielder Brandin McClay, midfielder Patrick Otte, forward Alec Purdie, forward Michael Roach, forward Dawyne “Rick” Smith and defender Blake Wagner.


Revolution acquires Colombian forward Jose Moreno

The Revolution acquired Colombian forward Jose Moreno on loan with an option to purchase from Colombian power Once Caldas … Moreno will be formally added to the team’s roster upon receipt of his U.S. P-1 Visa and his International Transfer Certificate … he began his professional career in 1999 with Colombia’s Deportivo Pasto and most recently was with Once Caldas, joining the club halfway through 2011 … he scored in his debut with the team in August and finished the half-year with seven goals and four assists in 20 total appearances.


Revs stand at four internationals

The Revolution currently have four international players on its roster: midfielder Fernando Cardenas (Colombia), midfielder Diego Fagundez (Uruguay), defender John Lozano (Colombia) and striker Jose Moreno (Colombia) … midfielder Sainey Nyassi (Gambia), who has counted as an international player since signing with the club in 2007, was recently granted U.S. Permanent Resident status, and now counts as a domestic player.

The Revolution will play four matches while in Tucson, Feb. 20 through March 4 … the round-robin FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup will feature the LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls, Revolution and Real Salt Lake … live video streaming is expected to be available throughout the tournament at mlssoccer.com … the Revolution will play the following schedule:


· Wednesday, Feb. 22 – vs. LA Galaxy, 8 p.m. ET


· Saturday, Feb. 25 – vs. New York Red Bulls, 10 p.m. ET


· Wednesday, Feb. 29 – vs. Real Salt Lake, 8 p.m. ET


· Saturday, March 3 – Championship/Consolation matches, 10 p.m. / 8 p.m. ET

Ten members of the New England Revolution Youth Development Program have announced their commitments to college soccer programs:

Scales to lead session at U.S. Youth Soccer Workshop

Revolution Director of Youth Development and Under-16 head coach Bryan Scales will lead the U16s through a training session at the U.S. Youth Soccer Association Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 18 … held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, the Workshop features educational sessions by top coaches and player development professionals for those involved in youth soccer … Scales’ session will begin at 3 p.m., and will focus on sharp passing, quick decision-making and movement off the ball.


Youth teams on winter break

Outside of regular training, both the U18s and U16s have a break from competition until early March, when the Revs will resume their fourth season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy … both teams finished the 2011 portion of the season at the top of the Northeast Division of the East Conference: the U18s hold a 4-1-0 record (12 pts.), while the U16s are 3-2-0 (9 pts.) … kicking off a series of road matches, the youth teams will next play D.C. United at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md., on Saturday, March 10.
