Revs announce Winter Showcase rosters, schedule
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Coming off a four-win opening weekend, the Revolution’s Youth Development program has announced its travel squads for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, which will be held Friday, Dec. 2 through Tuesday, Dec. 6, at the Premier Sports Complex in Sarasota, Fla. The Revs’ U18 and U16 teams will each play three non-conference games during the event: against Charlotte Soccer Academy (N.C.), Chicago Fire (Ill.) and North Meck SC (N.C.)

“The Winter Showcase provides us with another valuable opportunity to learn more about our players, both on and off the field, as we look to build on our performances from the opening weekend,” said Director of Youth Development Bryan Scales. “We’ll compete against three very good clubs, so it will be a challenge for us as we look to make progress with each of our teams.”

Following the Winter Showcase, both the U18s and U16s will have a break from competition until early March, when the Revs will resume their fourth season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Kicking off a series of road matches, the Revolution youth teams will play D.C. United at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Md., on Saturday, March 10.

Youth teams open with undefeated weekend…
The Revs’ Under-18 and Under-16 teams formally kicked off their 2011-12 U.S. Soccer Development Academy schedules at Durfee High School in Fall River, Mass., the weekend of Nov. 19-20, when they hosted Met Oval on Saturday, Nov. 19, and the New York Cosmos on Sunday, Nov. 20 … combined, the Revs' youth teams went undefeated at 4-0-0 and posted three shutouts to open their new campaign.

… And sit in first place in the Northeast
With wins across the board in their opening weekend, the Under-18 team (2-0-0, 6 pts.) sits among a three-way tie for first place in the Northeast Division with FC Greater Boston and Empire United, while the Under-16 team (2-0-0, 6 pts.) sits alone at the top of their table … though conference play will resume in March, the Revs will not face divisional opponents until May.
