Marko Perovic vs. Sporting KC

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced today that it will not exercise its contract options on midfielder Marko Perovic and forward Ilija Stolica ahead of Major League Soccer’s July 1 contract guarantee date.

Perovic, 27, appeared in 29 matches for the Revolution, starting 28, after signing with the club on March 26, 2010. He scored seven goals and added four assists, including one goal and one assist in four appearances earlier this year. He underwent season-ending surgery on his left knee on June 2, and at the time was expected to miss six to nine months while rehabilitating the injury. He was voted the 2010 Revolution MVP by the club’s fans.

Stolica, 31, made 16 appearances after signing with the club on July 30, 2010. He made 13 starts, scored four goals and added two assists, including the game-tying goal at Vancouver on April 6, 2011. Stolica was loaned to USL-PRO squad FC New York on April 29 after making two substitute appearances with the Revs early in the season.
