Revolution signs midfielder Ryan Guy

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced today that the team has signed midfielder Ryan Guy to a Major League Soccer contract. Per MLS and club policies, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Guy is expected to join the team following the Revs’ return from this weekend’s trip to New York.

After playing four seasons at the University of San Diego, Guy was drafted by FC Dallas in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. Guy chose to pursue playing opportunities abroad and joined Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Athletic in February 2007. In four seasons with the Saints, the San Diego native made 139 appearances and scored 25 goals. Guy also scored St. Patrick’s first-ever away goal in Europe against Latvia's JKF Olimps during the first qualifying round of the 2008 UEFA Cup.

At San Diego, Guy appeared in all 79 of the Toreros’ games in his four seasons, starting 77, between 2003 and 2006. He was a 2004 NSCAA All-Far West honoree, and a three-time All-West Coast Conference performer while scoring 16 career goals and adding 24 career assists.
