Revs to face Manchester United

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution will face English titan Manchester United at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday, July 13, as part of the 2011 World Football Challenge.


Kickoff against the current leader of the Barclay’s Premier League champion will be at 8 p.m.


“We've very pleased to invite Manchester United to Gillette Stadium to play the Revolution,” Revolution Investor/Operator Jonathan A. Kraft said. “Man U is one of the biggest names in the sports world. Not only is this a great opportunity for Revolution and New England soccer fans to see a world power in person, but it's also a tremendous opportunity for all sports fans in New England to witness such a major and memorable event."


A three-stage ticket sales schedule will be used for this event.


New and current Revolution season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase tickets starting on Monday, April 4.


Multiple-game packages, including the Manchester United match, will go on sale to the public on Tuesday, April 12.


Individual tickets to the match, which start at $50, will go on sale to the public on Saturday, April 23.

The Manchester United match is one match in the 2011 World Football Challenge, which will feature teams from Major League Soccer and top leagues around the world. Also confirmed for the event is Barcelona FC.


The Revolution (1-0-1, 4 pts.) will host the expansion Portland Timbers on Saturday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium (TV: Comcast SportsNet New England & Galavision; Radio: 98.5 The Sports Hub).
