NEW ENGLAND VS. NEW YORK SERIES INFORMATION

• The Revs lead the all-time, regular-season series with the New York Red Bulls (formerly the New York/New Jersey MetroStars), 25-16-11 … the Revs are 8-12-7 on the road against New York (0-0-0 at Red Bull Arena in MLS regular-season action), while sporting a 17-4-4 mark in Foxborough – including a 10-1-3 record at Gillette Stadium.
• Thursday’s night’s match is the second and final MLS regular-season meeting between the Revs and Red Bulls this season … the Revolution won the earlier meeting, 3-2, at Gillette Stadium on May 29.
• This will be the Revs’ first visit to Red Bull Arena for an MLS regular-season game ... the team made one previous visit to the new stadium, losing a U.S. Open Cup play-in match on May 12, 2010 by a 3-0 score line.
• The Revolution is unbeaten against New York in the teams’ last 14 regular-season meetings (8-0-6) dating back to the end of the 2005 season … New York’s last victory in the regular-season series came on Sept. 17, 2005 – a 5-4 victory at Giants Stadium.
• The Revs are 10-0-3 in their last 13 home games against the Red Bulls dating back to 2002 … New York hasn’t won in Foxborough since June 29, 2002 – a 2-0 win in the club’s first-ever visit to Gillette Stadium.
• This will mark the 61st all-time meeting between the Revolution and Red Bulls in MLS regular-season, postseason and tournament action combined, representing the most games the Revs have played against any team.
• New England and New York have met in the postseason three times – all since 2003 – and the Revs have eliminated New York on each occasion … the clubs most recent playoff encounter was in the 2007 Eastern Conference Semifinals.

PLAYER NOTES VS. NEW YORK

• Taylor Twellman is New England’s all-time leading scorer against New York with 14 goals, while he’s also added five assists in 19 appearances.
• Shalrie Joseph, a New York product, is the team’s active leader in scoring against New York, with two goals and eight assists … two of his assists came earlier this season in the May 29 meeting at Gillette Stadium.
• Four other current players – Kenny Mansally, Sainey Nyassi, Marko Perovic and Zack Schilawski – have all also scored single goals against New York in their careers … Mansally’s goal came in the March 28, 2009, meeting at Giants Stadium when he struck in the 90th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
• Matt Reis is 10-2-7 in his Revolution career against the Red Bulls, posting a 1.21 goals against average and six shutouts … with his recent ankle surgery, Reis will have missed both regular-season meetings against New York this season after he was recovering from shoulder/knee surgery during the first meeting.
• Bobby Shuttleworth made his MLS debut against New York on May 29 when he was forced into relief action following Preston Burpo’s leg injury in the first half … Shuttleworth picked up the win following a 51st-minute substitute appearance in which he made two saves and allowed one goal'

FINAL STRETCH

Thursday’s match is the Revolution’s final game of the 2010 season … the team is closing the regular season on the road for just the sixth time in team history, and for the second year in a row.

AIMING FOR 10

Should the Revs win on Thursday and push their win total to 10 games, they will reach double-figure wins for the sixth straight season … should they draw or lose, the Revs will miss the 10-win plateau for the first time since 2004, when the team recorded just eight wins.

CAN THE STREAK CONTINUE?

The Revolution enters Thursday’s match with a 14-match unbeaten streak against the Red Bulls in the regular season … the streak began on Sept. 25, 2005 and has included every regular-season match the Revs have played against the New York team since they became the Red Bulls at the start of the 2006 season … overall in that run, New England is 8-0-6 against New York, including a 6-0-1 mark at Gillette Stadium and a 2-0-5 record on the road.

SHUTTLEWORTH STEPS UP

Bobby Shuttleworth earned his first career shutout on Saturday night, making four saves en route to the 1-0 win over Kansas City … it was also his third career win, and second in a row after assuming the starting goalkeeper role following Matt Reis’ ankle surgery … Shuttleworth now has a 1.53 goals against average and a 3-2-0 record in five appearances.

BACK WHERE IT BEGAN

Thursday’s match will see Bobby Shuttleworth come full circle as a professional … on May 29 against the Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium, Shuttleworth made his first-ever MLS appearance when he was forced into action as a substitute following Preston Burpo’s horrific leg injury in the first half … now, on Thursday, Shuttleworth will come into the match as the established starter following Matt Reis’ season-ending ankle injury.

JOSEPH SURGES TOWARD FINISH

With all four of his goals coming in the last five games of the season, captain Shalrie Joseph is surging toward the end of the season … Joseph has scored four of the team’s last eight goals, beginning with his goal at Dallas on Sept. 22 … he then converted a penalty kick against Columbus on Sept. 25, and scored the team’s first goal at Houston on Oct. 10 … his goal on Saturday marked his fourth of the season and his 28th career goal … the 2010 season marks the fourth time in his eight-year career that Joseph has scored at least four goals.

TIERNEY TOPS HIS MARK

With his assist on Shalrie Joseph’s goal on Saturday against Kansas City, Chris Tierney established a new personal season best in assists with four … he now has the team’s second-highest assist total in 2010, behind Kheli Dube and Joseph, who have five apiece … Tierney is also the team’s leader in game-winning assists (3), tying him for seventh overall in MLS with the third-highest total.

NO SERB FOR YOU

While Serbian countrymen Marko Perovic and Ilija Stolica have accounted for more than 40 percent of the team’s scoring this year, Saturday’s game against Kansas City marked the first game that neither player was involved in a Revolution goal since Aug. 21 – coincidently also against Kansas City at CommunityAmerica Ballpark … since Aug. 28, if the Revs scored a goal in the game, then at least one Serb was involved in at least one of the game’s goals … in the nine games since Aug. 28, the duo accumulated three goals and five assists combined.

A RETURN TO A FULL BENCH?

With the return of Pat Phelan and Cory Gibbs from their one-game caution accumulation suspensions on Thursday, and Nico Colaluca’s recovery from his knee injury, the Revs could dress a full 18 players on Thursday … while 18 players is a typical gameday roster, the Revs have only been able to dress 18 players in 14 of 29 games this season … in fact, in each of the last three games, New England has fielded a lineup of no more than 16 players, including just 15 at Houston on Oct. 10 … through 29 games, the Revs have accumulated a stunning 176 man-games lost from injuries alone (not including suspensions, international duty or team leaves).

GOAL (LOW) RECORD IN JEOPARDY

With one game remaining, the Revs are threatening to establish a new club-record low for goals scored in a season … the current mark is 33 goals set in 2009, and the 2010 squad is close to that mark with 32 goals scored through 29 games … the Revs will need to score at least two goals on Thursday to evade the low, while a shutout will establish a new record and one goal scored will match last year’s mark.

In 18 of 29 matches this season, the Revs have been out-shot by their opponents ... included in that total are 12 matches in which the team has amassed single-digit shot totals ... included in that single-digit total are the Revs’ last four road matches - Oct. 10 at Houston (eight shots), Sept. 22 at Dallas (eight shots), Sept. 18 at Colorado (nine shots) and the Sept. 10 match at Chivas USA in which they had just three shots, the team’s second-lowest game total of 2010 ... 10 of the 12 single-digit games were played on the road, as well ... the Revs’ season low was two shots at Seattle on June 5 ... the Revs’ best attacking output on the year came through a 22-shot effort on June 27 against Chicago.

TEAM AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

On Saturday night prior to the Kansas City match, the Revs announced their 2010 team award winners … Marko Perovi? was voted by the fans as the team’s 2010 most valuable player, while the club’s beat media awarded Kevin Alston the best defender award … Taylor Twellman was awarded the Revs’ MLS W.O.R.K.S. humanitarian of the year award for his dedicated work for Children’s Hospital Boston and on head-injury awareness … Perovi? has the bead on the team’s Budweiser Golden Boot award – which will be awarded after the season – with six goals headed into the final game of the season on Thursday … he leads rookie Zack Schilawski, who has five goals.
