Foxborough, MA – August 28, 2010 – The Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and the New England Revolution are teaming up for a Breast Cancer Awareness game to be held October 2 at Gillette Stadium. The Revs will take on Real Salt Lake at 7:30 p.m. in a game that will kick off October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Revolution will participate in the MLS league-wide initiative, raising funds and awareness for breast cancer and Komen MA. Several players will be wearing pink apparel, pink equipment will be used on the field – including pink soccer balls - and survivors will be recognized throughout the evening. In addition, the Revolution will hold a raffle and auctions of pink game-used equipment and apparel, donating the proceeds to Komen MA.
In partnership with Komen MA, staff throughout Gillette Stadium will be wearing pink and fans have the opportunity to donate to breast cancer research and education and treatment programs while receiving a pink ribbon for $2. Also, breast cancer survivors will take part in pre-game and half-time ceremonies.
Revolution defender Cory Gibbs sees this partnership as extra special as he and his family have been touched by cancer. “Both my family and my wife’s family have been affected by cancer, so we’re both very supportive of breast cancer research and curing the disease,” said Gibbs. “I’m proud that the Revolution are helping raise awareness and funds for further research to find a cure.”

For $50, fans will be able to purchase two tickets and two Revolution breast cancer t-shirts to the game. All ticket proceeds will be donated to Komen MA.
The 18th Annual Komen Massachusetts Race for the Cure will be held at the Boston Seaport World Trade Center on Saturday, September 25 at 9:00 a.m. Join the thousands participating in this family-friendly 5K fitness run/walk supporting breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment programs.
