FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has placed goalkeeper Matt Reis on the team’s disabled list because of his on-going rehabilitation from offseason surgeries on his left shoulder and left knee. Reis, 35, will miss a minimum of six league matches. With Reis on the disabled list, the Revolution has earned roster space relief, with which the team has signed goalkeeper Tim Murray.
Reis had surgery on his left shoulder to repair labrum and rotator cuff damage on Dec. 1, 2009. His anticipated rehabilitation period was approximately six months. He later had a quadriceps tendon debridement procedure performed on his left knee on Feb. 4, 2010, which had an expected rehabilitation period of 8-12 weeks.
Murray, 22, was signed after training with the Revs since early March. The Haverhill, Mass., product played four seasons at Providence College (2006-09), finishing his career with a 1.01 goals against average in 60 starts. He also posted 27 shutouts while making 201 saves. Murray also played his high school soccer at St. John’s Prep (Danvers).
The Revolution (2-3-0, 6 pts.) returns to action on Saturday, May 1, when the team hosts FC Dallas at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
