Season Membership Refund FAQs

On August 8, 2020, Major League Soccer announced updates to the 2020 league schedule, with the Revolution resuming the 2020 season campaign on Friday, August 21 vs. the Philadelphia Union, here at Gillette Stadium, to be followed up with 5 additional matches (2 at home).

We are continuing to work with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and local health experts on a plan to host Revolution matches at Gillette Stadium with fans but as of this time we have not received approval to host matches with fans at the stadium.

Should we receive approval, we will be operating the stadium at a reduced capacity to allow for physical distancing between ticketed groups and seating locations will be impacted.  In an effort to accommodate as many Season Members as possible, we may not be able to seat Members in their original seats. Fans will also be required to wear face coverings inside the stadium at all times unless actively eating or drinking.

If you wish to reconsider your commitment to attending matches this year, you may now elect to defer the remaining balance of your 2020 Season Membership to the 2021 season.  Your existing 2020 seat location(s), regardless of whether you retain or defer your Membership, will be protected and available for you in 2021.

If you wish to defer, please let us know by Friday, August 14 at 5 p.m. by completing the 2020 Deferral Survey which was sent via email to Season Members.  Should you defer your Season Membership to 2021, any money paid towards future 2020 Revolution home matches that are played with fans in attendance will be applied as 2021 renewal credit.  As a reminder, any amounts paid towards 2020 Revolution home matches that are cancelled or played without fans in attendance will be refunded or applied as renewal credit pursuant to your prior selection.

GENERAL

Tickets for Revolution home matches that are rescheduled will be honored on the new date.  All terms and conditions in the Revolution Membership Program Terms and Conditions (“Membership T&C’s”) will continue to apply.

Please note: 2021 Season Membership per-ticket payments for renewing Season Members will not increase from 2020 pricing. 2021 Season Membership payment(s) are due October 15, 2020.

As of now, we estimate that six (6) of the seventeen (17) 2020 regular season Revolution home matches will be affected by the recent announcement by MLS. Season Membership and season ticket rates are based on a 17 match regular season Revolution home schedule. As a result, we are offering refunds and credits for all matches paid for in excess of eleven (11) matches.

For any 2020 home matches for which you have paid that are cancelled or played without fans in attendance, you have the following two options:

1. Refund – If you select this option you will receive a refund via your original payment method.  We are aiming to deliver refunds within 30 days from the time of selection.

2. Renewal Credit – If you select this option, the applicable amount will be applied towards your 2021 Season Membership payment(s). If you choose this option, we will provide you with a “bonus” based on the seating category of your 2020 Season Memberships.  

a.10% bonus amount that may be used towards new Revolution MLS regular-season ticket products in 2020 or 2021.  This includes all add-on tickets, new season seats, group tickets, and promotional ticket products. This bonus amount cannot be applied towards 2021 Season Membership payment(s).

b. Receive a one category seating upgrade for your existing 2020 Season Membership seat location(s) for the 2021 season.  We will hold your original seat location(s), which you may return to for the 2022 season, or you may keep your upgraded seat location(s).   If you decide to keep your upgraded seat location(s) in 2022 and future seasons, you will have to pay the regular renewal rate for such seating category.  Seat upgrades may be limited and are based on availability.

3. Deferment to 2021 – If you select this option, we will defer the remaining balance of your 2020 Season Membership to the 2021 season.  Should you defer your Season Membership to 2021, any money paid towards future 2020 Revolution home matches that are played with fans in attendance will be applied as 2021 renewal credit.  Any amounts paid towards 2020 Revolution home matches that are cancelled or played without fans in attendance will be made available for your choice of a refund or credit. In addition, any additional individual game tickets you purchased for Revolution home matches during the 2020 season (excluding March 7), including Season Member add-on tickets, will also be applied as a credit or refund pursuant to your prior selection.

Your existing 2020 seat location(s), regardless of whether you retain or defer your Membership, will be protected and available for you in 2021.

Your selection does not affect the current status of your Season Membership and all terms and conditions in the Revolution Membership Program Terms and Conditions will continue to apply.

Q. How does my choice of a refund, credit, or deferral affect my Season Membership?

A.  Your selection of a refund, either of the two credit options or a deferral does not affect the status of your current Season Membership(s).  All terms and conditions of the Revolution Membership Program Terms and Conditions remain in effect.  Choosing one of the three options will alter the payment structure for your 2021 Season Memberships and we will communicate the details to you in advance of billing.

Q. Are you going to raise Season Membership prices for 2021?

A. 2021 Season Membership renewal prices will not be increased from 2020 per-ticket pricing.

Q.  What will happen if I don’t make a selection by the deadline?

A.  If you don’t choose an option by the deadline the default is you will receive a refund. 

Q. What if future 2020 regular season matches are cancelled or played without fans in attendance? Will I have to select my refund/credit/deferral option again?

A.  No.  In the event it is determined in the coming weeks that more Revolution 2020 regular-season home matches will be cancelled or played without fans in the future, you will not need to select your refund/credit/deferral option again and we will apply any additional refunds/credits pursuant to your existing selection. 

REFUNDS

If you select the Refund option you will receive a refund via your original payment method.  If you would like a refund via a method different than your original payment method, you must contact the Revolution within 24 hours of selecting the refund option to make the request.  The Revolution will accommodate the request to the extent feasible.

If you select the Refund option and additional Revolution home matches are cancelled or played without fans in attendance, your eligible refund for those matches will be processed automatically. 

Q. When will I receive my refund?

A.  You should receive your refund around 30 days after you select your refund/credit option.

Q.  How did you calculate the amount for my refund?

A.  Season Membership payment(s) are based on a seventeen (17) home match regular-season schedule.  As of now, a minimum of seven (7) home matches will be affected by the August 8 announcement by MLS regarding the return to play.  Within the next 30 days, we expect to have more information regarding whether we will be able to host matches with fans, based on our communications with MLS, the Commonwealth, and local health experts. Once we have such information, we will send additional communications, including information about funds which may become eligible for your choice of a refund or credit.

Q. I purchased additional tickets to a match that has been postponed.  Are those included in my refund?

A.  No.  Your refund or credit only applies to your Season Membership(s). Any additional individual game tickets purchased for games during the 2020 season (excluding March 7), including Season Member add-on tickets, will also be made available for your choice of a refund or credit.

RENEWAL CREDITS

Season Members that elect to receive amounts paid towards cancelled Revolution home matches as a Renewal Credit on their account will have these amounts applied towards the renewal of their 2021 Season Membership(s).

This Renewal Credit cannot be applied to new Revolution ticket products and must be used as renewal payment toward existing Season Membership(s).  This Renewal Credit may not be used to pay for merchandise, concessions, or other Gillette Stadium products such as the Hall at Patriot Place, concerts, NFL football and international soccer.

For members making monthly payments, the Renewal Credit will be applied to your 2021 payments each month until the balance has been exhausted.  At that time regularly scheduled payments will resume according to the Membership T&Cs.

For Season Members who make one annual lump sum payment, the Renewal Credit will be deducted from the amount due for the 2021 Season. The annual payment, less this deduction, will occur as regularly scheduled according to the Membership T&Cs.

The Revolution will communicate all payment details and amounts prior to any payment being charged.  Season Members who are currently set up for one annual payment and would like to switch to monthly payments may contact us and we will accommodate.

Q.  What if I choose a renewal credit and then cancel my membership?  Can I still receive a refund?

A.  Yes.  Your renewal credit will remain refundable until it is applied as a payment on 2021 Season Membership(s).  Once the credit it is applied, such amounts are no longer refundable.

Example (Based on a $100/month membership rate):  You elect to receive a renewal credit of $400 toward your 2021 Season Membership renewal in lieu of a refund.  Your first monthly payment of $100 will be applied on October 15, 2020.  You then decide to cancel your membership after the first $100 payment is applied but before the second monthly payment is applied.  In this case you would still be eligible to receive $300 as a refund and $100 would remain on your account for use pursuant to the Membership T&Cs.

BONUS OPTION 1 - FREE ONE-CATEGORY SEAT UPGRADE FOR 2021

Current Season Members with seats in the FORT, Corner/Endline, Sideline, and Midfield who elect to receive 2021 Renewal Credit may elect to receive a free one-category seat upgrade for the 2021 MLS season.  Season Members who take advantage of this opportunity will receive a free one-category upgrade for all existing seats on their account for the entire 2021 MLS regular season.

Putnam Club and Presidents Club Season Members are not eligible to receive seat upgrades and will receive 10% Bonus Amount good towards new Revolution MLS regular-season ticket products should they choose the Renewal Credit instead of a refund.

Season Members who elect the seat upgrade option will receive this upgrade for free for the 2021 season only and will only be required to pay the regular renewal rate for their original seating category.  Season Members who choose to remain in their upgraded location(s) for the 2022 season will be required to pay the the current renewal price for the upgraded seating category.  If you select the upgrade for 2021 and would like to move back to your original (2020) seat location(s) in 2022 we will hold your original seat location(s) until a specified date in summer 2021. The Revolution will communicate this date no less than 30 days in advance of the deadline for you to decide.  The Revolution cannot guarantee original seat location(s) will be available for Season Members that do not communicate their decision by the deadline.

LIMITATIONS

To be eligible for this seat upgrade Season Members must retain the same number of seats in 2021 in the same category or higher as they had in 2020.  For example, a Season Member with four sideline seats in 2020 cannot drop down to three or less seats in 2021 and receive an upgrade.  Similarly, a 2020 Season Member may not “downgrade” seat categories in 2021 and then receive the seat upgrade to their original 2020 seat category.  To receive the free upgrade you must choose seat location(s) in the next category above your 2020 location(s).

Seat upgrade location(s) are limited and based on availability and the Revolution does not guarantee that particular seat location(s) or category(ies) will be available.  Season Members who elect the seat upgrade option will be assigned a time block to select new location(s) for the 2021 season based on the tenure of their account.

No seat location(s) will be moved (upgraded) without the consent of the Season Member and Season Members will have the option to choose a refund or the 2021 Renewal Credit plus 10% Bonus Amount option if we cannot determine a suitable seating location for the upgrade.

Q.  If I choose the bonus seat upgrade for 2021 am I guaranteed my old seat locations for 2022?

A.  Yes.  We will hold your original 2020 seat location(s) until a specified date in summer 2021.  We will communicate this date to you no less than 30 days prior to the deadline for you to make your decision.

Q.  What if I choose my upgraded seat location and then I change my mind.  Can I get my old seats back for the 2021 season?

A.  Not likely.  Once you officially upgrade your seat location(s) for 2021 we may allow someone else to acquire your former location(s) for the 2021 season.  In the event that no one else has selected your former seat(s) we would make them available to you.  You should assume that once you decide to upgrade for the 2021 season your decision is final for the 2021 season.  In any event, we will work with you to find the best possible seating location(s) for the 2021 season, upgrade or otherwise.

Q.  If I choose the seat upgrade for 2021 where will my seats be for the playoffs?

A.  You will have the opportunity to purchase playoff seats for your upgraded location in the same manner you would in your former seat location(s).You will need to pay the regular playoff rate for that seating category for any potential home MLS Playoff matches or the MLS Cup Championship if that match is played at Gillette Stadium.

Q.  Can I purchase an additional category upgrade and move my seats up two categories?

A.  Yes.  You would need to buy the first category upgrade and these would become your new anchor seat location(s).  Then you could elect the free bonus upgrade to move into the second category above your 2020 seating category.

CREDIT OPTION 2 - 10% BONUS AMOUNT FOR NEW REVOLUTION TICKET PRODUCTS

Season Members who elect to receive 2021 Renewal Credit may choose to receive a 10% Bonus Amount for new Revolution ticket products.  This will be the default option for Putnam Club and Presidents Club Season Members who choose to receive 2021 Renewal Credits. 

Bonus Amounts may be used to pay for all new Revolution MLS regular-season ticket products for matches played at Gillette Stadium.  This includes additional season seats, add-on single match tickets, group tickets, and promotional ticket packages.  Bonus Amounts may not be used to pay towards existing season memberships, merchandise, concessions, and other Gillette Stadium products such as the Hall at Patriot Place, concerts, NFL football and international soccer.

Q.  How is the 10% Bonus Amount calculated?

A.  If you elect to receive the 10% Bonus, your Bonus Amount is determined by multiplying your eligible 2021 Renewal Credit amount by 10%.  If you receive additional 2021 Renewal Credit due to additional 2020 Revolution home matches being cancelled or played without fans in attendance your Bonus Amount will increase accordingly.

Q.  What if I don’t use my 10% Bonus Amount in 2020 or 2021?  Does the Bonus Amount expire?

A.  No.  However, the 10% Bonus Amount is only redeemable for new Revolution MLS regular season ticket products for matches played at Gillette Stadium.

Q.  Can I use the 10% Bonus Amount to purchase a new season seat for 2021?

A.  Yes.  You can use the 10% Bonus Amount to purchase a new season seat.  New season seats are counted when the quantity of your season seats increases over the prior year, i.e. you had four seats in 2020 and in 2021 you are adding a fifth seat.  Season seats are not counted as “new” by moving categories or moving seats within a seating category.

Q.  Can I use the 10% Bonus Amount online at Ticketmaster.com?

A.  No.  The 10% Bonus Amount may only be used to purchase tickets directly through the Revolution sales office or through Account Manager.  This credit is not good for online purchases on Ticketmaster.com or any ticket re-sellers such as Ace Ticket, StubHub, SeatGeek, etc.

Q.  If I decide not to use the 10% Bonus Amount will you issue me a refund for this amount?

A.  No.  This is a free bonus and such amounts are not refundable.
