RUBÉN GARCIA

Assistant Coach
New England Revolution

Rubén Garcia enters his first season as Assistant Coach/Goalkeeping Coach for the New England Revolution after joining Head Coach Brad Friedel's staff in November 2017.  He brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Revolution, most recently serving as the Academy Goalkeeper Director for New York City FC and Goalkeeping Coach for all United States Youth National Teams between the Under-14 and Under-23 age groups.

Prior to joining NYCFC in 2015, Garcia served on the technical staffs at Spanish powerhouse Atlético Madrid, in addition to the TSF Academy – an elite youth development program in New Jersey. From 2012-17, he coached goalkeepers at all levels of the U.S. Youth National Team program, where he worked alongside Friedel.

After concluding his player career in Spain, Garcia earned his UEFA 'B' professional football coaching license from the Spanish Soccer Federation in 2012. He later earned his UEFA 'A' coaching license in 2014, and is currently on course to secure his UEFA PRO license from the Spanish Soccer Federation.

Before entering the coaching ranks and moving to the United States, Garcia enjoyed a 14-year professional career. Garcia, who was also known as Ruben Martin during his playing days, spent time with clubs including Toledo CV, Alaves CF, Albacete, Atlético Madrid, Ciudad de Murica, Talavera, and Alcala de Henares.

Garcia graduated from the University of San Pablo CEU in Madrid in 2006 with a Bachelor Degree in Criminology.
