Sports Performance Coach -- REVOLUTION II

Daniel Kirwan is entering his second season as the Sports Performance Coach for Revolution II, the New England Revolution’s third-division professional side which began play in USL League One in 2020, following his appointment to the position on Feb. 3, 2020. Kirwan makes the move to New England following five seasons with D.C. United in roles with the First Team, USL second team, and Academy programs.

Most recently, Kirwan served as the Strength and Power coach for D.C. United during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Prior to holding that position, he was hired by the Black and Red as a Physical Preparation and Performance Analyst, a role he held from March 2015 through the end of 2017. His responsibilities included the development of supplemental training schedules along with strength and conditioning workouts.

Kirwan, 28, began his career as a Strength and Conditioning Student Assistant for the Clemson football program while attending the university. During his undergraduate tenure, he assisted in the development of 24 NFL players. He graduated from Clemson in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

In January of 2019, Kirwan was hired by U.S. Soccer as a sports scientist, traveling abroad with the U-16 team to the UEFA Development Tournament in May 2019 and Malbork, Poland with the U-15 team in October of 2019. He also made the trip to Florida with the U-16 team in November, joining the staff that helped guide the youth team to victory at the 2019 Nike Friendlies.

His experience in developing younger talent stems from his early days with D.C. United when he also helped train high school athletes in his hometown of Bethesda, Md. at Sport & Health Club LC.
