Biography

Acquired: Signed by the Revolution as a Senior International on September 15th, 2005; originally drafted by the Revs in third round (33rd Overall) of 2005 MLS SuperDraft

Now in his third season with the Revs, the left-footed New Zealand international is a strong athlete who possesses the ability both to defend and to use his speed to make overlapping runs ... joined the Revs in the fall of 2005 and has seen time as a left-sided defender and midfielder … also will slot in as a holding midfielder.

2006: Appeared in 16 games and started nine, all on the left side (left back and left midfield). Missed several stretches of the season while competing with the New Zealand National Team. After signing with the Revs in the fall of 2005, made his MLS debut on April 30 against Chicago at Gillette Stadium. Both of his assists came in the Revs' dramatic come-from-behind 3-3 draw at Chicago on June 11. His first-career MLS assist came on Taylor Twellman's goal in the 87th minute, and his second came on Steve Ralston's goal in stoppage time. Did not see any time during the 2006 MLS Cup Playoffs.

2005: Did not see any first-team action with the Revolution after signing with the club late in the season. Made one appearance with the Revs’ Reserve Division squad, playing all 90 minutes against the Kansas City Reserves on Oct. 10.

BEFORE MLS: Lochhead played Orange County Blue Star of the Premier Development League in 2004, appearing in 10 matches. Helped the Blue Star to their second consecutive Premier Development League postseason appearance and earned PDL All-Western Conference. He also scored one goal and tallied one assist for Orange County.

COLLEGE: Missed just five matches in four years at UC Santa Barbara, all because of suspension or national team duty … as a senior, earned NSCAA Second-Team All-America honors, as well as All-Big West First Team and league defensive player of the year recognition … his 7,546 career minutes played at UCSB are the most of any field player in program history … capped his four-year college career at UCSB by leading the Gauchos to the 2004 NCAA Division I College Cup Final.

NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL TEAM: Has earned 11 caps for the New Zealand National Team as of Feb. 1, 2007 … earned his first cap at international soccer's highest level when he started in a friendly match in Iran … Lochhead has started every match since that he has been available to play … Lochhead helped anchor the All-Whites' defense in World Cup qualifying at the Oceania Football Confederation's Nations Cup in 2004 … in 2006, he passed on opportunity to play for New Zealand in order to play with the Revolution in the CONCACAF Champions Cup … as member of New Zealand's 2004 National Team, Lochhead anchored the Kiwi defense that came within two goals of qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens … he began his play on New Zealand's National teams with the Under-16 team, and has competed on each concurrent squad up to, and including, the Under-23's and full senior national squad.

QUICK KICKS: Majored in Chemical Engineering at UCSB ... recognized as a Big West Scholar Athlete ... if he was not playing soccer he would probably be playing beach volleyball … lists his greatest moment in sports was beating Poland 2-1 in the Under-17 World Cup with the New Zealand National Team.
