Gwynne Williams - Coaches
Biography

Gwynne Williams is in his third season as the goalkeepers coach for the New England Revolution. He joined the Revolution coaching staff in February 2007 after 12 seasons on the staff of NCAA Division II soccer powerhouse Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. Since joining the Revs, Williams has helped establish New England's goalkeeping corps as one of the best - and deepest - in the league.

Last season, all three of the Revs' keepers saw first-team action in professional soccer, with Matt Reis and Doug Warren seeing MLS action and Brad Knighton seeing extensive starting time with the USL-1 Portland Timbers while on mid-season loan.

In 2007, Reis, an MLS All-Star "First XI" selection and All-Star Game starter posted 10 shutouts for the third straight season, in addition to posting three consecutive shutouts in the Revs' first three postseason matches. Williams has also worked extensively with the Revs' backup keepers, helping them backstop the team to a second-place finish in the 2007 Reserve Division.

Williams was a member of Steve Nicol's coaching staffs at the last two MLS All-Star Games, helping the league post victories over Scottish Premier League giant Celtic FC in 2007 and English Premier League side West Ham United in 2008.

A native of St. Helens, England, Williams has been on the coaching advisory councils of the Canadian Soccer Association and Bermuda Football Association. An NSCAA National Goalkeeping Instructor, Williams is a member of the USSF National Coaching Staff and holds a USSF "A" coaching license.

Williams earned his certificate of education from Nonington College of Physical Education in 1975, and completed his bachelor of education degree at London University in 1976.
Williams lives south of Boston with his partner, Paula. He has two grown children, Michelle and Oliver, and one newborn, Toby (1).
