FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s youth development teams will participate in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, to be held at the Reach 11 Sports Complex in Phoenix, Friday, Dec. 4, through Tuesday, Dec. 8. All 154 teams representing the 77 U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs will participate in a total of 234 games during the extended weekend.

Both the Revolution’s Under-16 and Under-18 teams will play three matches each against Solar Soccer Club (Dallas, Texas), Scott Gallagher Soccer Club (St. Louis, Mo.) and South Carolina United FC (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.). The Revs will open the weekend against Solar SC on Saturday, Dec. 5, with the U-16s set to kick off at 1:15 p.m. MT and the U-18s to follow at 3:15 p.m. MT. After taking a day off on Sunday, the teams will return to action against Scott Gallagher on Monday, Dec. 7, as the U-16s will once again play at 1:15 p.m. MT to be followed by the U-18s at 3:15 p.m. MT. The Revolution will close the weekend against South Carolina FC on Tuesday, Dec. 8, with both the U-16 and U-18 teams scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. MT.

This year’s Winter Showcase will incorporate the overall theme for the Development Academy’s 2009-10 season, the Every Day Environment. The theme involves specific player recommendations for individual training, team training, off-field routines and games.

The Revolution’s Under-16 and Under-18 teams will both open the 2010 U.S. Soccer Development Academy schedule on Saturday, Feb. 13, on the road against FC Greater Boston Bolts, the former youth club of current Revolution players Chris Tierney and Mike Videira.
