FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution today announced its 2009-10 Under-16 and Under-18 youth teams, which will begin play Dec. 4-8 in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase in Phoenix. Players from Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire are represented on the two teams, which will be competing in the prestigious U.S. Soccer Development Academy for a second year.
Additionally, the Under-16 and Under-18 schedules for the 2010 Development Academy season have also been released. Beginning with a road match against FC Greater Boston Bolts on Saturday, Feb. 13, the teams will compete against elite clubs around New England and along the East Coast into the beginning of June.
The Revolution’s groundbreaking youth program – which is completely free of cost to all chosen participants – allows the region’s top youth players to train under the guidance of the Revolution’s coaching staff and have the opportunity to one day play for the Revolution. The program, under Major League Soccer’s initiative, also allows participants to retain their NCAA eligibility.
