Foxboro, MA - Two players from the New England Revolution soccer team held a private clinic on Monday at the Dana Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium for 12 lucky soccer players. Ann McCarthy of Winchester won the clinic in a silent online auction for a fundraiser for the National Braille Association. The two-hour long clinic, lunch and stadium tour were donated to the auction by the Revolution. Twelve children from the Winchester Youth Soccer Program, ages nine to 12, participated in the event with forward Adam Cristman and goalie Brad Knighton, who passed skills, drills and fundamentals on to the eager players. The clinic wrapped up with a scrimmage and buffet of hamburgers and hotdogs. “I liked getting to play with the players in the scrimmage,” said Brooke Powers, 11, of Winchester.
The children were happy to get the opportunity to play on the same field as the Revolution players and have a behind the scenes tour of Gillette Stadium after lunch. “It was a once in a lifetime chance,” said Elizabeth Williams, 11, of Winchester. Revolution player Adam Cristman enjoyed the quality time spent with the young fans. “They were all in Revolution shirts,” said Cristman. “[Running clinics like this] gives us the chance to give back to the people who support us.” The event was a great time for both the youth soccer and Revolution players, who embraced the special experience that was all for a great cause.
