FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Nick Addlery scored one goal and added an assist on the game-winning goal as the D.C. United Reserves earned a 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution Reserves on Thursday afternoon at Lower Practice Field.

Addlery’s cross to Domenic Mediate in the 22nd minute set up the game-winning goal, which United goalkeepers Shawn Crowe and Jay Nolly made stand with a combined eight saves in the shutout. Addlery also scored on a one-two play with Marc Burch in the 75th minute to secure the road victory.

With the win, D.C. United’s Reserves improved their 2007 record to 2-1-2 (8 pts.), while the Revolution Reserves fell to 3-2-0 (9 pts.).

D.C.’s Brad North had an opportunity to extend United’s lead to 2-0 in the 31st minute, when he was unmarked on the right post but sent a headed ball over the crossbar.

Crowe made two saves in the first half, before Jolly came on at the half. Jolly’s six saves included a stop on Wells Thompson’s effort at an equalizer off a Daniel Hernandez free kick in the 74th minute. 

After Addlery’s goal pushed United’s lead to two goals, Stephen deRoux nearly made it a three-goal lead in the 80th minute. Trailing the attack, deRoux launched a long-range, hard shot on the ground, but his attempt was wide left past New England keeper Brad Knighton. Knighton finished the game with two saves, both coming in the first half.

The physical match saw a total of six cautions issued, including four to the Revs and two to United.

The Revolution's Reserves return to action on Sunday, June 17, when they host the Columbus Crew Reserves. D.C. United's Reserves have more than a month off before next seeing action on Sunday, July 15, when they host the FC Dallas Reserves.
