Pierce, 25, has been one of the Revolution’s stalwarts since being drafted by the team in the second round of the 2000 MLS SuperDraft (14th overall). He has played in 89 games for the Revolution, starting 87 of those. He played collegiately at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and was a member of the United States Under-21 National Team. Pierce has performed at both right back and in the central defense for the Revs. His success with New England led to his selection for the U.S. Men’s National Team player pool for 2004.

The status of Revolution central defender Carlos Llamosa, who injured his right knee in preseason in an exhibition game against the New Orleans Shell Shockers on March 27, will be known shortly. The team expects a full diagnosis later this week after Llamosa is examined by team physicians.
