TUCSON, Ariz. – The New England Revolution conceded a pair of goals in the dying minutes of Wednesday night’s Desert Diamond Cup group stage finale against Real Salt Lake, slipping to a 3-2 loss and settling for a spot in the tournament’s consolation game on Saturday evening.

The Revs (1-2-0, 3 pts.) will face the New York Red Bulls (0-2-1, 1 pt.) in the consolation match at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 23, while Real Salt Lake’s (1-1-1, 4 pts.) late heroics earned the club a spot in the nationally-televised championship game against Seattle Sounders FC (3-0-0, 9 pts.) at 8 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.

Flashes of Fagundez

TUCSON, Ariz. – Conceding a pair of late goals to slip into the Desert Diamond Cup consolation game put a damper on Wednesday night’s group stage finale against Real Salt Lake, but New England Revolution fans will be buoyed by an occasionally electric performance from young Diego Fagundez.

The 18-year-old Homegrown talent was at his best on the Revolution’s opening goal in the 50th minute. After expertly controlling Andrew Farrell’s long diagonal pass, Fagundez raced down the left wing, rounded his defender and crossed for Andy Dorman to finish from close range.
