FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy returned to the pitch this past weekend when the Under-14s and Under-13s hosted New York Soccer Club at East Providence High School.
The Under-16s are in the midst of the Generation adidas Cup Finals in Frisco, Texas. The Under-16s competed in Group B of the Premier Division and played the Philadelphia Union (April 7), the Chicago Fire (April 9), and C.F. Monterrey (April 11). Most recently, the U-16s defeated the Portland Timbers (April 13), 2-1, and will play a team to be determined in a placement match on Saturday, April 15.
In addition, an Under-12 team featuring players from Revolution Academy U-12 Alliance partner clubs Bayside FC, NEFC, and Valeo FC will be competing in the 7-v-7 tournament. The team is in Group D of the competition and will square off with Seattle Sounders FC (April 13), New York Red Bulls (April 13), Houston Dynamo (April 14), and Malaga C.F. (April 14). The U-12s will close out the tournament on Saturday, April 15 with a pair of matches yet to be determined.
The Under-14s and Under-13s will continue their USSDA schedules and will travel to Brooklyn, N.Y. for matches against BW Gottschee Academy at Aviator Spots and Recreation on Saturday, April 15.
U-14/U-13 HIGHLIGHTS
- Forward Michael Tsicoulias '02 (Newton, Mass.) recorded two goals and an assist as the U-14s went on to defeat New York Soccer Club, 4-2. Midfielder Liam Carpenter-Shulman '02 (Amherst, Mass.) notched his first assist of the 2016-17 USSDA season.
- Midfielder Patrick Leal '03 (Newton, Mass.) posted a pair of assists for the U-13s in their 3-0 victory over New York Soccer Club. The midfielder now has five assists on the season.
- Forward Matthew Fordham '03 (Groton, Mass.) scored his first goal of 2016-17 in the victory for the U-13s.
