FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution have made two additions to the club’s technical staff, welcoming Assistant Coach Carlos Llamosa and Head of Fitness Aidan Byrne. Both Carlos and Aidan bring an abundance of experience to the club’s technical staff ahead of the 2017 MLS season.

“We are always looking for opportunities to improve our club both on and off the field and we feel we’ve enhanced our staff with the additions of Carlos and Aidan,” General Manager Michael Burns said. “Carlos and Aidan both bring a vast amount of experience in the game and specifically in our league. “We are excited to strengthen our staff with these two additions,” Head Coach Jay Heaps said. “Carlos was an excellent player and an even better teammate, and we are thrilled to add his passion and energy to our team. We’re equally excited to add Aidan to our staff as his experience in MLS will make us stronger both on and off the field.”

Llamosa, 47, will bring his experience in both international and domestic soccer to the Revolution as he serves as an assistant coach with additional scouting responsibilities. He has seven years of coaching experience as an assistant with the New York Cosmos (2013-16) and Chivas USA (2010-12). In four seasons with the Cosmos, Llamosa helped the club to three NASL Soccer Bowl championships. In addition to the three league titles, his Cosmos won the Fall Season championships in 2013 and 2016, as well as the Spring Season title in 2015.

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Llamosa enjoyed a 10-year MLS career, including a stint with New England in which he appeared in 38 games from 2002-03. He also played professionally in Colombia with Colmena (1986-89) and Huila (1990). A native of Palmira, Colombia, Llamosa made a total of 29 appearances with the United States Men’s National Team and played in the 1999 Confederations Cup and 2002 World Cup.

Byrne joins the Revolution following two seasons as the physical performance coach with New York City FC. Before joining NYCFC’s staff in 2015, Byrne served as head coach of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s men’s soccer team for the 2014 season. He previously spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Northeastern University, leading the Huskies to three straight Colonial Athletic Association tournament appearances (2011-13) and the CAA championship in 2012.

A native of Dublin, Ireland, Byrne has also served on the coaching staffs of the United States Futsal National Team (physical preparation specialist), Boston-based youth club FC Bolts Celtic (U-17/U-18 Academy head coach), and Siena College (assistant coach). The University of Rhode Island graduate played professionally for the Rhode Island Stingrays from 1999-2000.
