Revolution Academy Update: September 28, 2016

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy’s four teams were back in action this past weekend, when all four teams hosted FC Boston Bolts. The Under-18s and Under-16s played at East Providence High School, while the Under-14s and Under-13s played at Medway High School. The weekend saw six players score, as well as six players record assists for the Revolution Academy.


The Under-16s and Under-14s will be in action this weekend as they travel to St. John’s University’s Belson Stadium to take on New York City FC’s Under-16 and Under-14 teams on Sunday Oct. 2. The Under-13s will be back on the pitch Sunday, Oct. 9 at New York Soccer Club, while the Under-18s will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 against Empire United.


WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

  • Forward Andrew Serafino ’03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.) posted a hat trick, leading the Under-13s to a 4-0 victory over Boston Bolts FC’s Under-13s. The three goals are Serafino’s first three goals with the Revolution Academy.
  • Forward Gustavo Cassemiro ’00 (Framingham, Mass.) recorded a goal and an assist in the Under-16s 4-3 loss to Boston Bolts FC’s Under-16s.
  • Three players recorded their first goals of the season this past weekend: Under-16 forward Luis Blanco ‘01 (Pawtucket, R.I.), as well as Under-13 midfielder Jonathan Murphy ’03 (Monson, Mass.) and forward Andrew Serafino ’03 (East Longmeadow, Mass.). Blanco registered 15 goals last season for the Under-14s, while Murphy and Serafino each recorded their first goals in their first year with the Revolution Academy.
  • Goalkeepers Nickolas Cardona ’03 (Roxbury, Mass.) and Eliot Jones ’03 (New Britain, Conn.) combined to record a shutout for the Under-13s.
  • Midfielder Michael Balleani ’02 (Woburn, Mass.) and forward Felipe Vieira ’03 (Malden, Mass.) each found the back of the net for a second consecutive match. Balleani opened the scoring for the Under-16s, while Vieira posted the lone goal for the Under-14s.
