Two Revolution Academy players called in to U.S. National Team Duty

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Academy players Jonathan Ferreira and Pierre Spiegel have been called in to the U.S. Under-16 National Team for a nine-day training camp. Ferreira and Spiegel are at the domestic camp which began on Monday, June 6 and ends on Sunday, June 12 in San Ramon, Calif.


“This is real honor for Jonathan and Pierre,” Revolution Director of Youth Development Bryan Scales said. “They have both had very strong seasons competing with our U14’s and U16’s and I’m sure they’ll take full advantage of this terrific opportunity.”


Ferreira, who has played for both the U-14s and U-16s this season, is in his second year with the Revolution Academy, having joined ahead of the 2014-15 season. An Ashland, Mass. native, Ferreira has recorded 54 appearances, including 29 this season and scored 20 goals with 10 assists. Ferreira, 15, is making his second appearance at the U.S. Youth National Team level. Last season, Ferreira along with Revolution Academy players Tyler Freitas, Amos Shapiro-Thompson, and Kevin Vang were called in to the U.S. Youth National Team Futures Camp.


Spiegel, who also has played for both the U-14s and U-16s this season, is in his first year with the Revolution Academy, having joined ahead of the 2015-16 season. A native of Amherst, Mass., he has made 20 appearances with the Academy, all coming this season, and tallied one goal and one assist this season. Spiegel, 15, is making his first appearance at the U.S. Youth National Team level.
