Diego Fagundez vs. NY Red Bulls

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution earned their first win of the season on Friday, defeating the New York Red Bulls 1-0 at Gillette Stadium. Diego Fagundez was the goalscorer for the Revs, finishing a low cross from Juan Agudelo to cement New England’s first victory.

Following a scoreless first half, the Revs got on the board in the 55th minute, as Juan Agudelo found Diego Fagundez for his second goal of the 2016 campaign. New York’s Bradley Wright-Phillips had a chance from point blank range in the 60th minute, but Bobby Shuttleworth recorded the crucial save, keeping the Revs in the lead.

New York’s Felipe was issued a red card in the 61st minute, leaving the Red Bulls to play with ten men for the final 29 minutes of the second half. The Red Bulls threatened in the 81st minute, as Bradley Wright-Phillips had the ball at his feet in the six-yard box following a corner, but Shuttleworth, March’s Santander Man of the Month, kept the clean sheet intact.
