FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Two New England Revolution players, midfielder Lee Nguyen and defender Je-Vaughn Watson, have been called into their respective national teams for a pair of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers this week. Nguyen joins the United States Men’s National Team for two matches versus Guatemala, while Watson joins the Jamaican national team for two matches versus Costa Rica.

Nguyen, 29, is one of 26 players called in by US Men’s National Team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for semifinal round World Cup Qualifying matches against Guatemala on March 25 and March 29. The McKinney, Texas, native rejoins the USMNT following an outstanding January camp, during which he started in friendlies versus Iceland and Canada and logged 151 minutes. Nguyen has collected nine international caps throughout his career. He signed a contract extension with the Revolution on Friday and currently paces the club in shots and fouls suffered.

Watson, 32, is set to join the Jamaican national team for its pair of World Cup Qualifying matches versus Costa Rica on March 25 and March 29. The defender has 52 career international caps with the Reggae Boyz. He helped lead the team to a second-place finish in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup, starting all but one match, including the championship game versus Mexico. Watson signed with the Revolution on March 4, and has started and played 90 minutes in both of the club’s first two regular season matches.
