Let the Games Begin: Revs kick off preseason slate on Wednesday vs. San Jose

Team huddle in Casa Grande

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – It’s only preseason, but the New England Revolution will play their first match in more than three months on Wednesday afternoon when they take on the San Jose Earthquakes.

The Revs, currently stationed in Casa Grande, Arizona, will make a day trip to Tucson – about a one hour bus ride away – for a scrimmage against Dominic Kinnear’s men. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be streamed live by the Earthquakes HERE.

After eight straight days of training in Casa Grande the Revs will finish up their trip with three games in the span of four days; they’ll also face FC Dallas on Thursday (12 p.m. ET) and the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday (6:30 p.m. ET).

As is customary early in preseason the players will see limited minutes in each match, meaning head coach Jay Heaps will balance the workload as everyone continues to build their fitness.

“It’s all light loads. I don’t think we’re worried about anyone going 90 minutes,” Heaps said. “We’re going to balance the lineup and really the idea is to make game scenarios minutes-wise equal to the load of a training session. So it’s really just like having three training sessions in four days.”
