Lee Nguyen called in to annual U.S. National Team January camp

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen has been called in to the U.S. National Team for the first training camp of 2016. Nguyen is one of 23 players that have been included in head coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s squad for the camp, which will be held in Carson, California from Jan. 11 until Feb. 6. 


The U.S. National Team will open its 2016 schedule on Sunday, Jan. 31 against Iceland before hosting Canada on Friday, Feb. 5 to close out the camp. Both matches will be played at StubHub Center in Carson, California. Following the game against Canada, Nguyen is scheduled to join up with the Revolution for preseason training.


Nguyen, who has collected seven caps so far in his international career, last played for the U.S. on Oct. 10 when he came off the bench in the second half of a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. That was his third appearance with the National Team in 2015, having also collected two caps in 2014 and three in 2006 when he made his international debut.


The Revolution will open preseason training ahead of the 2016 MLS season in Foxborough on Friday, Jan. 22. The team will travel to Casa Grande, Arizona for 10 days of training on Tuesday, Jan. 26 and then train for a week in Foxborough from Feb. 8-13 before heading to Tucson, Arizona on Feb. 14 for the Desert Diamond Cup.
