FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All three New England Revolution Academy teams were in action last weekend, with the Under-18s and Under-16s each hosting Beachside SC at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 31, while the Under-14s were in North Carolina for their annual Showcase. In Foxborough, the U-18s and U-16s split their games with the U-18s earning and 2-1 win and the U-16s falling 1-0. The U-14s went 1-1-1 in their three games at the showcase, beating D.C. United 3-2 and falling 2-1 to the New York Red Bulls in two 50-minute games on Saturday, before playing to a 3-3 tie with Georgia United over 80 minutes on Sunday.
UNDER-18s
A pair of penalty kicks saw the Under-18s claim their second consecutive win with a 2-1 victory over Beachside SC on Saturday. In the 29th minute, Andrew Barrowman (Marshfield, Mass.) was tripped in the Beachside area, and the Revolution forward converted the spot kick to put the Revs up 1-0 with his team-leading third goal of the season.
Another penalty kick sealed the points for the U-18s with 12 minutes remaining, as Max Diamond (Hopedale, Mass.) scored from the spot after Aaron James (Amherst, Mass.) was fouled in the area. Beachside pulled a goal back in second-half stoppage time, but the Revs held on to claim their second 2-1 victory in as many games.

UNDER-16s
The Under-16s were handed their first defeat of the season on Saturday with a 1-0 loss to Beachside SC. After a quiet first half lacking in chances for either side, the Revs were able to begin controlling possession after the break. However, they struggled to find a way through the Beachside defense with their best chance coming midway through the second half, when a free kick from Gabriel Meireles (Everett, Mass.) found Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) at the back post, only for his header to bounce wide of the goal.
Beachside snatched all three points late in the game when a quick counter attack saw the ball crossed to Chester Glenn in the Revolution area, and the Beachside forward placed a shot past Rev goalkeeper Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.), making the score 1-0. The score would stay that way until the final whistle, meaning that the Revs’ nine-game unbeaten streak to open the season had come to an end.

UNDER-14s
The Under-14s kicked off their Showcase in North Carolina with a 3-2 victory over D.C. United behind a two goal and one assist performance from Jonathan Ferreira (Ashland, Mass.). The Revs took the lead early when Ferreira picked up the ball in the attacking third, beat his man and fired into the bottom corner from just outside the area, putting the U-14s up 1-0.
D.C. responded with two goals from Kyle Davis in a seven-minute span just before halftime to take a 2-1 lead into the break, but the Revs came out firing in the second 25-minute stanza. Ferreira notched his second goal in the 35th minute, firing in at the near post after being found by Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.). The forward then turned provider by setting up his strike partner, Blanco, for the game-winning goal in the 45th minute. Ferreira played Blanco in behind the United defense, and he beat the last man before finding the net for his team-leading seventh goal of the season, making the final score 3-2 in favor of the Revs.

In their second 50-minute game of the day, the Revolution Under-14s fell 2-1 to the New York Red Bulls. The Red Bulls struck twice before halftime, with Scott Taylor and Jayden Reid finding the net in the 12th and 19th minutes, respectively. The Revs pushed forward in the second half and pulled a goal back through substitute Luke Fagerson (Medway, Mass.). Just five minutes after entering the game, Fagerson picked up a loose ball from a Revs corner kick that was only partially cleared and fired a powerful drive from distance into the top corner for his first-ever goal for the Revolution Academy. That goal cut New England’s deficit to 2-1 and despite continuing to push numbers forward in throughout the final 10 minutes, the Red Bulls held on for the victory.

The Revolution Under-14s wrapped up their Showcase with a dramatic 3-3 draw against Georgia United in an 80-minute game on Sunday, with the Revs coming back from two goals down with 10 minutes remaining to claim a draw. Georgia United pulled ahead in the 15th minute through Josiah Ortiz and doubled their advantage eight minutes later when Brian Alcantar found the net, sending the Revs into the halftime break down 2-0.
The Revs pulled a goal back early in the second half, when Luis Blanco found Samuel Deossa (Watertown, Mass.) in the Georgia area, and he fired a shot into the bottom corner for his first goal of the season, making the score 2-1. However, Georgia restored their two-goal advantage in the 70th minute when Alcantar notched his second goal of the game.
That goal set the stage for a dramatic Revolution comeback, which began in the 73rd minute when Trevor Burns (Southborough, Mass.) swung in a corner that was headed into the back of the net by center back Camden Blackburn (Ludlow, Mass.) to cut the Revs’ deficit in half. Deep into stoppage time, the Revs got their equalizer, with Burns again at the center of the action. His corner kick eluded everybody in the area and curled into the net, making the final score 3-3.
