Academy Callups - November 2

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Two New England Revolution Academy players have been called in to the U.S. Under-15 National Team for a week-long training camp. Isaac Angking and Tyler Freitas are two of 60 players that have been called into the camp, which wraps up on Sunday and will feature three intrasquad matches, in Bradenton, Florida.

“This is another excellent opportunity for Isaac and Tyler to train alongside some of the most promising players from their age group,” Revolution Director of Youth Development Bryan Scales said. “It’s an honor for each of these young men to be invited back in to the U.S. National Team set up, and we hope they learn a lot from this exciting experience.”

Both Angking and Freitas have previous experience with U.S. Youth National Teams. Angking was called in for a week-long U.S. Under-15 camp in Bradenton in December 2014 and a U.S. Under-14 National Team camp in Carson, California in August 2014. Freitas was called in for the U.S. Youth National Team Futures Camp in Southern California in May 2015.

Angking is currently in his third season with the Revolution Academy, tallying a goal and two assists in nine games while playing up with the Under-18 squad. A creative midfielder from Providence, Rhode Island, Angking debuted with the Revs at the start of the 2013-14 season and has made 66 appearances, scoring 16 goals and adding 16 assists, since joining the program. In August, the 15-year-old was selected for the Generation adidas ESP event in August, where he played and trained with other elite MLS Academy players as well as an All-Star team from Bayern Munich’s Academy.

A versatile player that can play in defense or the midfield, Freitas is currently in his second season with the Revolution Academy, having joined the Under-14 team ahead of the 2014-15 season. The North Attleborough, Mass. native has tallied three goals and three assists in 46 appearances with the Revs, including two assists in 12 appearances so far this season. The 15-year-old has spent time playing up with the Under-18 team this year, recording an assist on his debut for the older age group, while Freitas has also appeared in all three Generation adidas Cup games that the Revs have played in, captaining the side in each of his two starts.
