Revolution Headlines: September 11

Lee Nguyen vs. Orlando City SC

Happy Friday! The weekend is upon us and the boys are crossing the border to face Toronto FC on Sunday. The game is a national broadcast airing on ESPN2 so there is plenty cause to Sunday Funday.

The Revs are coming into the weekend on a hot streak; four straight wins and unbeaten in their last six. The Bent Musketlisted five reasons they think the Revs are in such fine form. Let’s carry that play into the weekend, eh boys?

Tuesday night’s loss to Brazil wasn’t the result the USMNT was looking for but Jermaine Jones saw it as a chance to get better, both as a team and personally. Jones underwent his second sports hernia surgery in June and has been steadily making his return to the pitch. “I feel like it’s getting better and better from game to game,” Jones said. “I’m happy that now I go back to my team and give them some minutes and then try to be 100 percent when we play Mexico.” We’re looking forward to those minutes on Sunday, J.

Jay Heaps will certainly be happy to have Jones back on the field Sunday. “Who he is as a person, his mentality, when he’s with the national team and he comes back, he’s stronger as a competitor,” Heaps said of Jones. “Jermaine, when he’s at his best, is playing for both club and country.” The pieces are in place for the Revs to make another playoff run this year.

Sunday will be a test for the Revs as Michael Bradley and Jozy Altidore are both back from USMNT duty. The good news for the Revs is Sebastian Giovinco and Benoit Cheyrou are likely out again. This leaves the door open for the Revolution to push it on the attack.

Enjoy the weekend fans, and gear up to cheer on the boys on Sunday!
