Revolution Headlines: September 10

Diego Fagundez goal celebration vs. Orlando City SC

Hey guys! It’s time for a little headline news from your girl.

Let’s kick it off with some power rankings. FINALLY people seem to be getting it right. MLSSoccer.comhas the Revolution at number seven and says the Revs are, “the hottest team in the league.” Oh stop MLS, you’re making me blush.

ESPN bumped the Revs up to number four and said, “The Revs are rolling and at just the right time.” That’s right - we’re heating up going into the playoffs. History is repeating itself maybe…

If you were here on Tuesday night you saw the unfortunate 4-1 loss the USMNT suffered to Brazil. Not many highlights for our side to discuss but Jermaine Jones took the field in the starting lineup. Coach Jurgen Klinsmann summarized the game by saying, “They gave us a lesson tonight.” Here’s to hoping they learn from that lesson.

The Revs are heating up right now and people are taking notice. Lee Nguyen was in MVP form in the 3-0 win on Saturday night over Orlando City, racking up three assists on the night. “I look at the impact that he’s having in the game and today obviously it came down to the assists and he was able to break it open,” Jay Heaps said of Nguyen’s performance. The Revs now face a two week stretch with four games.

Want to listen to Chris Tierneytalk Revs on ESPN Radio? Of course you do. Chris will also be appearing on ESPN News tonight (Thursday) at 6 p.m. ET on the big screen, so set your DVRs or tune in for that one!

That’s it for now. Be sure to watch Coffield’s Corner with Jermaine Jones, he tells me all about stripping down “straight naked” for ESPN The Body Issue and why Charlie Davies is a kid at heart.
