Revolution to honor head coach Jay Heaps with bobblehead giveaway

DL - Heaps Bobblehead Night

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution will honor head coach and former defender Jay Heaps by giving away limited-edition Jay Heaps bobbleheads on Saturday night before the Revs take on the Houston Dynamo at Gillette Stadium. Fans in attendance at that game will have the opportunity to take home the Jay Heaps bobblehead, which features Heaps in gameday coaching attire doing his signature post-win fist pump.

Jay Heaps is in his fourth season as the head coach of the New England Revolution after taking the reins of the club following the 2011 season. Since then, Heaps has transformed the Revs from a five-win club that finished at the bottom of the Eastern Conference to the 2014 Eastern Conference Champions.

Prior to being named the head coach of the Revolution, Heaps, a native of Longmeadow, Mass., spent nine seasons anchoring the Revs’ backline. He ranks third in club history with 243 regular-season games played and helped New England reach MLS Cup four times while winning the 2007 U.S. Open Cup and the 2008 SuperLiga titles.

The Jay Heaps bobblehead, which will be the first Revolution bobblehead to depict a head coach, will be available at all stadium gates before Saturday night’s game. Quantities are limited so fans are recommended to arrive early in order to assure themselves the best possible chance of capturing this prized collectable.

This is the fourth straight season in which the Revs have given away bobbleheads, with current Revolution players Kevin AlstonDiego FagundezAndrew FarrellLee Nguyen and Kelyn Rowe being featured in the past, as well as the club’s mascot, Slyde. Saturday’s bobblehead giveaway will be the third and final bobblehead giveaway of 2015, with midfielder Jermaine Jones and defender Jose Goncalves both released in bobblehead form earlier this season.
