Revolution Headlines: August 4

DL - Goal Celebration Toronto FC

Time for a little headline round up. Did you miss me yesterday? I know you did.

Charlie Davies broke his goal scoring drought in stunning fashion, tallying two goals Saturday night in the Revs 3-1 win over Toronto. Davies told The Globe, "these are the type of goals that get you going, not only for me personally, but as a team."

On Revolution Postgame Live Jay Heaps told Dalen Cuff and Khano Smith that he liked the way his team played for 90 minutes. Watch the full analysis here.

The Toronto win comes just as the Revs are headed into a bye week and the players are confident this is just the beginning of an upward swing. "It's similar to last year. We want to get hot toward the end of the season," Davies told New England Soccer News.

Coach Heaps knew Davies was ready for Saturday night. "He was really good," Jay told mlssoccer.com. "I felt like Charlie was itching for one. I think tonight from the opening minute he was going to be aggressive and it showed."

Take a look at this week's MLS Power Rankings. On the 3-1 win over Toronto Socceramerica.com says, "the Revs looked a lot more like last year's MLS Cup finalist than the dreary version that lurched through July." Uh, thanks?

In Academy news Attleboro's Nick Woodruff has been chosen to join the Revs Under-18 Team. Woodruff is a junior at Bishop Feehan High School.

Be sure to catch an all new episode of Coffield's Corner. It's Darrius Barnes, who is one of my favorite people. We talk some smack about Kevin, but it's WITH LOVE KEV.
