Revolution charitable drive series continues with pregame book drive on Saturday night

2015 Drive Series

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution and New England Revolution Charitable Foundation will be collecting books ahead of Saturday night’s home game against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Gillette Stadium. Book donations, which will benefit More Than Words, will be accepted at all gates at Gillette Stadium beginning at 6 p.m. through the first 15 minutes of the game, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, More Than Words is a non-profit organization that empowers youth who are in foster care, court-involved, homeless or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. Books donated to More Than Words are used in the program’s retail and online used book business, café, and community space, helping to develop the employment skills, leadership, and self-confidence at-risk youth need to successfully transition to adulthood.

On Thursday afternoon, a number of Revolution players will visit the More Than Words warehouse bookstore in Boston. The players will take a tour of the facility and meet with the young adults working in the program before helping to sort donated books.

Fans who donate books on Saturday night will receive a special edition Kelyn Rowe photo card, autographed by a Revolution player. The card is one quarter of a Revolution Charitable Foundation poster that can be formed by donating items at all four events during the Drive Series, which began on May 23 when the Revs hosted D.C. United.

After Saturday's game, there are two dates remaining in the 2015 Revolution Drive Series. They are:

  • Saturday, Aug. 1 vs. Toronto FC – School supplies to benefit Cradles to Crayons
  • Saturday, Sept. 5 vs. Orlando City SC – Non-perishable food items for the Greater Boston Food Bank
