FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All three of the New England Revolution Academy teams were in action last weekend, posting a 2-0-1 record against rivals FC Bolts Celtic on Sunday, May 17 at Medway High School. The U-18s started the day with a 3-1 win before the U-16s played to a second consecutive 0-0 draw. The U-14s rolled to a 9-1 win to close out the day, matching their biggest win of the season. The weekend’s results saw the Revs Academy teams remain unbeaten in May, posting a combined 6-0-5 record across the three age groups this month.
The complete list of the weekend’s results is below:
The Under-18s began the day with a convincing 3-1 win over FC Bolts Celtic, with leading scorer Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) adding a pair of goals after his hat trick performance last weekend against Beachside SC. The Revs went 1-0 up in the 27th minute when Derek Blanchette (Scituate, R.I.) fed Arling on the top of the Bolts box, and the forward struck a powerful shot past the goalkeeper. The U-18s doubled their lead just before halftime, when Amadu Kunateh (Lynn, Mass.) led a counter attack and slipped Aaron James (Amherst, Mass.) into the area, and he hit a low finish into the corner to make the score 2-0. Bolts Celtic pulled a goal back in the 53rd minute when Mason Brummett scored but Arling restored the Revs’ two-goal lead 11 minutes later. Blanchette was again the provider as he created a turnover and played the ball to Arling, who turned on the edge of the area and netted his 13th goal of the season to make the final score 3-1.
