FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Academy teams were all in action last weekend, posting a 2-0-1 record as the Under-18s and Under-16s faced partner club Empire Revolution before the Under-14s took on New York Soccer Club. The U-18s played to a 2-2 draw with Empire Revolution before the U-16s posted the biggest win this season for any of the Revs’ Academy sides, earning a 10-0 win. The U-14s continued the weekend’s high-scoring trend with a 6-4 victory over NYSC to close out the day.

The complete list of the weekend’s results is below:

The Under-18s began the weekend with a 2-2 draw against Empire Revolution. The Revs fell behind early, as Lukas Rubio found the net in the sixth minute to put the visitors 1-0 up. The U-18s went into the halftime break down, but equalized in the 61st minute. Captain John Wilkins (Natick, Mass.) played a ball in to Daniel Rovira (Lynn, Mass.) inside the Empire area, and the midfielder turned and found the net for his first goal for the Revolution Academy, tying the score at 1-1. The stalemate did not last long, as Hunter Walsh put Empire 2-1 up just three minutes later, only for the Revs to once again equalize, with 13 minutes remaining. Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) picked up a pass from Derek Blanchette (Scituate, R.I.) on the right side of the area, and Arling fired past the Empire goalkeeper for his team-leading eighth goal of the season to make the final score 2-2.

The Under-16s earned a 10-0 win over Empire Revolution on Saturday in the Revolution Academy’s biggest win of the 2014-15 season. The last time any Revolution Academy side scored 10 goals was when the U-18s beat Everton FC Westchester 10-0 on May 25, 2014, with recent Homegrown signing Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) scoring twice. After going ahead in the sixth minute through Justin Rennicks (South Hamilton, Mass.), the Revs added further goals before halftime through Calvin Aroh (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Matt Ranieri (Natick, Mass.) to go into the break 3-0 up. Three goals in the space of four minutes early in the second half blew the game open as Daniel Jones (West Hartford, Conn.), Ranieri and Izaiah Jennings (Barrington, R.I.) all got on the scoresheet to put the Revs up 6-0 before Andrew Barrowman (Marshfield, Mass.) made it 7-0 in the 57th minute. New England added three goals in the final 10 minutes to round out the scoring. Isaac Angking (Providence, R.I.) scored in the 72nd minute before Jennings netted two late goals to complete his hat trick and give the Revs a 10-0 victory. Goalkeeper Eddie Walsh (Westwood, Mass.), playing in the place of the suspended Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.), was not required to make a save as he recorded his third shutout of the season.

The Under-14s finished up the day with a 6-4 win over New York Soccer Club, as the Revs scored six goals in a game for the first time since their season-opener – an 8-0 win over Albertson SC on September 14, 2014. NYSC started quickly, going ahead in the first minute through Jalen Anderson, but the Revs would turn the game around before halftime. First, Trevor Burns (Southborough, Mass.) played Tim Ennin (East Hartford, Conn.) through to score in the 14th minute before Burns himself put the Revs 2-1 up 10 minutes later with a powerful strike from the edge of the area. The Revs added goals through team-leading goalscorer Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.), who scored his eighth of the season with a low finish, and Nico Ferrara (Somerset, Mass.), who netted from close range in the 36th minute to make the score 4-1 New England. However, Jalen Anderson and Will Sands both scored for NYSC in the closing moments of the first half to cut the Revs’ lead to a single goal going into the second half. Connor Fitzgerald scored for NYSC to make the score 4-4 in the 72nd minute, but two Revolution substitutes sealed the win in the final eight minutes of the game. Connor Haskell (Medfield, Mass.) carried the ball down the left wing and crossed for Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) to volley into the back of the net in the 74th minute before Amos Shapiro-Thompson (Worthington, Mass.) picked up a short corner and set up Luis Blanco (Pawtucket, R.I.) to finish in the second minute of stoppage time and make the final score 6-4.
