FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Lee Nguyen and forward Juan Agudelo have been called in to the U.S. National Team ahead of the friendly against Mexico on Wednesday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Agudelo and Nguyen are two of 22 players that were named to the squad by U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

Both Agudelo and Nguyen travelled to Texas earlier today and are scheduled to return to Boston on Thursday ahead of the New England’s next MLS regular-season game at Philadelphia on Sunday, April 19. The Revs are one of four clubs, along with Club Tijuana, the LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake, to have multiple players included in the U.S. squad.

This season, Agudelo has one goal in five games with the Revs, scoring the game-winning goal in New England’s 2-0 win over Colorado on April 4. Nguyen also scored in that game, converting a second-half penalty kick. He has a goal and an assist in four games this season and played the 100th game of his Revolution career on Saturday against Columbus.

Nguyen has been capped six times by the U.S. National Team, including twice this year, having come on as a second-half substitute against Chile and Panama in January and February respectively. He has appeared in three of the last six games that the U.S. has played dating back to November 2014 after having not been capped since 2007.

Agudelo is included in the U.S. squad for the first time since March 2014 when he collected his 18th cap in a friendly against Ukraine. He has two goals and three assists in 18 appearances with the National Team since making his debut on Nov. 17, 2010 in a friendly against South Africa. He scored the game-winning goal in 85th minute of that game, becoming the youngest player to score for the United States at just 17 years of age. Agudelo’s most-recent goal for the U.S. came in March 2011 in a 1-1 draw with Argentina.

Wednesday’s friendly between the United States and Mexico can be seen nationally on FOX Sports 1, UniMas and Univision Deportes Network with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET.
