Revolution Charitable Foundation launches pair of season-long initiatives

DL - Hero of the Match

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Charitable Foundation has launched a pair of brand new matchday initiatives for the Revs’ 2015 campaign. At each regular-season home game, Hero of the Match will recognize a hero from the community and Kickin’ It with KA will give children who are either currently battling or have survived blood cancer a chance to hang out with Revolution defender Kevin Alston, who returned to the field three months after being diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in 2013. Hero of the Match will kick off during New England’s home opener against the Montreal Impact on Saturday, March 21 at Gillette Stadium and Kickin’ It with KA is scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 28 when the Revs host the San Jose Earthquakes.

Hero of the Match

The Hero of the Match program will honor a local first responder, member of the armed forces or individual making a difference in the community at each home game during the 2015 regular season.

As part of their selection, honored Heroes will receive four tickets in the Putnam Club, four pregame field passes and be recognized in-stadium for their contribution to the community.

To nominate a Hero of the Match, please fill out the form available online here.

Kickin’ It with KA

Kickin’ It with KA is an initiative founded by Revolution defender Kevin Alston, in partnership with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Starting with the Revs’ March 28 game at Gillette Stadium against the San Jose Earthquakes, Alston will meet with an LLS patient and their family immediately following each regular-season home game.

The goal of Kickin’ It with KA is for Alston – who has managed his health and returned to the field after being diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in 2013 – to meet with children who are either currently battling or have survived blood cancer and provide encouragement to the LLS patient and their family.

In addition to the postgame meet and greet with Kevin Alston, each Kickin’ It with KA experience will include tickets in the Putnam Club for the patient and their family, pregame field passes and a Revolution gift bag for the patient.

Each recipient will be selected by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
