FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Under-18 and Under-16 teams traveled north of the border to face the Montreal Impact on Sunday, November 16 at Stade Saputo in Montreal. Both sides earned points in snowy conditions with the U-18s playing to a 0-0 draw and the U-16s claiming a 1-0 win over the Impact. All three of the Revolution’s Academy teams will now take a hiatus from league play until March 2015.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s posted their second consecutive shutout with a strong defensive performance in a 0-0 draw with the Montreal Impact on Sunday. Revolution goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) recorded five saves on the afternoon to record his second consecutive shutout. The Impact controlled most of the play but the defensive display of Guy Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) and Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) in front of Sinbaldi helped to keep Montreal off the scoreboard. At the other end of the field, the Revs had opportunities on the counterattack, with TJ Soehn (Franklin, Mass.) a standout performer as New England posted four shots.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s extended their unbeaten streak to seven games, earning a 1-0 win over Montreal on Sunday. Substitute Alex Clarke (Windsor, Conn.), who was making his season debut for the U-16s, scored the game’s only goal in the 78th minute to give the Revs a 4-0-3 record in their last seven games dating back to September 21. After battling to a deadlock for more than 70 minutes, the Revs finally made their breakthrough with two minutes remaining as Justin Rennicks (South Hamilton, Mass.) played the ball over the Montreal defense for Clarke who ran onto the pass and fired a shot into the upper right corner from outside the area, giving New England a 1-0 victory. Revolution goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) made three saves in the shutout – his sixth of the season and the U-16s’ eighth in 10 games so far this season.

The Under-18 and Under-16 teams will next take part in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase from November 28-December 3 in Sarasota, Fla. The Academy teams are next scheduled to take part in league play when they face Seacoast United on March 7, 2015 at Gillette Stadium.

The Under-18s currently sit eighth in the USSDA East Conference with a 4-5-2 record for 14 points, while the Under-16s sit second with a 6-1-3 record for 21 points and 2.10 points per game. The Under-14s, who were not in action last weekend, head into their winter break with a 7-2-0 record.
