Youth Teams October

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution’s Under-18, Under-16 and Under-14 teams were all in action last weekend, going a combined 3-1-1 across five games on Saturday and Sunday. The U-18s and U-16s traveled to Bridgeport, Conn. to face BSC CT Academy on Sunday, November 9, with the U-18s earning a 2-0 win and the U-16s tying 0-0 at the University of Bridgeport. The U-14s traveled to Advance, N.C., for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase, playing three games in two days at BB&T Soccer Park. After losing 2-1 in their first game against Bethesda-Olney on Saturday, November 8, the U-14s won their final two games, beating Orlando City SC on Saturday and the Capital Area RailHawks Academy on Sunday by identical 2-0 scorelines.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s scored once on either side of the half to earn a 2-0 win over BSC CT Academy on Sunday. The Revs went ahead in the 26th minute when Chris Arling (Windham, N.H.) headed an Aaron James (Amherst, Mass.) cross into the back of the net. The U-18s sealed the win with nine minutes remaining when Eddie Venta-Yepes (Lowell, Mass.) was fouled in the BSC area and Guy Kabala (Manchester, N.H.) converted the penalty kick to give the Revs a 2-0 lead. Revolution goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) made two saves to preserve the shutout and BSC CT finished the game with 10 men after Sean Dedrick was shown a second yellow card and was ejected late in the contest.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s played to a 0-0 draw with BSC CT Academy on Sunday to record their seventh shutout in nine league matches so far this season. The Revs had five shots but were unable to find a goal while Revolution goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) made two saves in the shutout. The tie extended the U-16s’ unbeaten streak to six games (3-0-3).

UNDER-14s

The Under-14s kicked off their U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase with a 2-1 loss against Bethesda-Olney on Saturday. The Revs were down 2-0 inside the opening 20 minutes after Gabe Segal scored a pair of goals for Bethesda-Olney in the 11th and 18th minutes. Tim Ennin (East Hartford, Conn.) pulled a goal back for the Revs in the 32nd minute, making the score 2-1, but the U-14s were unable to find an equalizer in the second half as Bethesda-Olney held on for the win.

Later that same day, the U-14s claimed their first win of the Showcase, beating Orlando City SC 2-0. The Revs got off the mark early when Laz Dorogi (West Boylston, Mass.) headed across the goalkeeper from a cross by Connor Haskell (Medfield, Mass.) for the game’s opening goal in the fourth minute. The U-14s doubled their lead in the 36th minute when Gustavo Cassemiro (Framingham, Mass.) caused a turnover in the Orlando City area and fired into the lower left corner to put the Revs up 2-0. At the other end of the field, goalkeeper Pat Quinn (Manchester, N.H.) made two saves in the shutout.

The U-14s concluded their trip to North Carolina with a 2-0 win over the Capital Area RailHawks Academy on Sunday. The Revs went ahead when Paulo Da Silva (Framingham, Mass.) whipped in a corner kick from the right which Tyler Freitas (North Attleboro, Mass.) headed in from close range. The U-14s added a second goal just before halftime as Cassemiro notched his second goal in as many games. Elio Firmino (Somerville, Mass.) played the ball over the RailHawks defense for Cassemiro, who chipped his shot over the goalkeeper to score, giving New England a 2-0 advantage. Quinn again made two saves in goal as the U-14s recorded their second consecutive shutout of the Showcase.

The Under-18 and Under-16 teams are back in action this weekend as they travel north of the border to face the Montreal Impact on Sunday, November 16, at Stade Saputo in Montreal. The U-18s will kick off the day at 11 a.m. with the U-16s set to follow at 1:30 p.m. The Under-14s next travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to face BSC CT Academy on Saturday, November 22 at the University of Bridgeport. Kickoff for that game is set for 3:45 p.m.
