U14s vs. Match Fit - Youth teams

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – All three of the New England Revolution’s youth teams were in action last weekend, going 0-2-1 on Sunday, October 19. The Under-18s fell to Empire Revolution, 1-0, at McAvoy Park in Rochester, N.Y., while the Under-16s played to a scoreless draw against the same opposition. The Under-14s suffered a 2-1 loss at New York Soccer Club at the School of the Holy Child in Rye, N.Y.

UNDER-18s

The Under-18s saw their two-game winning streak snapped by Empire Revolution on Sunday. The Revs dominated possession but Adrian Minott’s 65th minute goal on the counter was enough to give Empire all three points. Revs goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) made three saves in the loss.

UNDER-16s

The Under-16s tied Empire Revolution, 0-0, a result that extended their unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1). The Revs had nine shots but were unable to beat the Empire goalkeeper.  New England goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) made three saves in the shutout. The U16s have posted five shutouts in six league matches so far this season.

UNDER-14s

The Under-14s lost their first game of the season, falling 2-1 at New York Soccer Club on Sunday. NYSC went into halftime with a two goal lead after Matt Braver scored in the 10th and 33rd minutes. The Revs pulled back the deficit in the second half when Trevor Burns (Southborough, Mass.) picked up the ball on a counterattack and slipped in Jonathan Ferreira (Ashland, Mass.) for his team-best fourth goal of the season. Goalkeepers Pat Quinn (Manchester, N.H.) and Ryan Manning (Middleton, Mass.) both saw time and made three saves combined.

All three of the Revolution’s youth teams are back in action next weekend. The Under-18s and Under-16s host Players Development Academy on Saturday, October 25, at Medway High School in Medway, Mass. Also on Saturday, the Under-14s host Empire Revolution at Forekicks Taunton in Taunton, Mass. The U18s kick off the day at 11 a.m., before the U16s follow at 1:30 p.m. The U14s are set for a 2 p.m. start.
