FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Under-18 and Under-16 teams were in action last weekend, going 1-3-0 in a weekend doubleheader against FC Continental DELCO and the Philadelphia Union. The U18s dropped their first game against FC Continental DELCO, 4-0, while the U16s posted a 1-0 win at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, Pa., on Saturday, September 20. The U18s and U16s then fell in their games, 2-0, on Sunday, September 21, against the Philadelphia Union at YSC Sports Turf in Wayne, Pa.
UNDER-18s
The Under-18s played to a 4-0 defeat on Saturday against FC Continental DELCO. The Revs fell behind after only three minutes, as Defrim Namani put FC Continental ahead. The home side doubled their lead two minutes later through Rushawn Larmond and the score remained the same through the half. FC Continental added two more goals in the second half as Kevin Bendesky scored in the 55th minute and Larmond notched his second goal of the game in the 63rd minute. U18s goalkeeper Omar Castro (Woonsocket, R.I.), making his Revolution debut, recorded five saves.
The U18s took to the field again on Sunday, falling to the Philadelphia Union, 2-0. Goals from Will Campbell and Brandon Levano on either side of the half proved to be the difference as the U18s dropped their second game in as many days. Goalkeeper Bill Sinibaldi (Plaistow, N.H.) made two saves.
UNDER-16s
The Under-16s faced FC Continental DELCO on Saturday, posting a 1-0 win. Joe Brito (Bolton, Conn.) scored the only goal of the game in the 44th minute off of a Travis van Brewer (Wilbraham, Mass.) assist. Goalkeeper Trey Miller (Monson, Mass.) made five saves to preserve the shutout win.
The U16s then suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Philadelphia Union on Sunday. Alexander Soto gave the Union the lead in the 20th minute, and Jerren Nixon made the points safe late on as the U16s finished the weekend with a 1-1-0 record. Miller made five saves while the Revs had 12 shots but were unable to find a way through.
All three of the Revolution’s youth teams are back in action next weekend when they host Everton FC Westchester at Milton High School in Milton, Mass., on Sunday, September 28.
