Yesterday, the Revolution announced the acquisition of Andre Akpan from New York – along with allocation money – in exchange for forward Saer Sene. It was a move designed to shake up the roster heading into the stretch as the Revs look to clinch a playoff berth for the second consecutive season. Craig Forde of MLSSoccer.com has the thoughts of Head Coach Jay Heaps on the move.

Also on MLSSoccer.com, Revolution forward-turned-winger Teal Bunbury spoke to Craig Forde about setting a career high in assists when he tallied his fourth of the season on Charlie Davies’ goal against New York. Check out what Bunbury and teammate A.J. Soares had to say about the former Kansas City forward’s performances this season.

Andre Akpan will be returning home (in a sense) when he arrives in New England after the trade with the Red Bulls. Prior to being drafted in the second round by Colorado in 2010, Akpan played college soccer at Harvard University. See what Revolution General Manager Mike Burns made of the trade in Nicholas Mendola’s article on NBC Sports ProSoccerTalk.
