Youth Playoffs Update: June 19, 2014

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution’s Under-18 team has qualified for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs, which will be held Monday, June 23 through Friday, June 27, at Grand Parks Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana. The U18s will play three group matches, with the top finisher in the group hosting a quarterfinal matchup. The winner of the quarterfinal game will advance to Finals Week at the StubHub Center in Carson, California, July 17-19. The Revs’ Under-16 team will take part in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase, held simultaneously at Grand Parks Sports Campus in Westfield, Ind., next week.

The U18s will play group games against the Houston Dynamo (Texas), Chivas USA (California) and Capital Area RailHawks Academy (North Carolina). The U16s are set to face the Chicago Fire (Illinois) and De Anza Force (California) in their Showcase.

The U18s finished second in their age group of the Northeast Division of the Development Academy’s East Conference to qualify for postseason play. The U18s have qualified four times in five years (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014).The Revolution launched its youth development program ahead of the 2008-09 season.

YOUTH NOTES

U18 Season Summary
The Under-18 team closed out the season with a 14-5-3 (45 pts.) overall record … the U18s finished second in the Northeast Division of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s East Conference … the U18s ended the season especially strong, going unbeaten in its final 11 games (10-0-1).

U16 Season Summary
The Under-16s finished the season with a 9-9-5 (32 pts.) overall record … the U16s finished sixth in the Northeast Division of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s East Conference … the U16s ended the season impressively, going unbeaten in its final five games (3-0-2).

U14 Season Summary
The Under-14s concluded the season with a 15-5-5 overall record, going 14-3-5 in the regular season and 1-2-0 in their Showcase … the U14s put together an 18-game (13-0-5) undefeated streak, stretching from Oct. 6, 2013 to the final game of the regular season on June 7, 2014.

MLS Competition
The New England Revolution is one of 10 MLS clubs that saw their Under-18 squad qualify for Playoffs this year … the U18s are scheduled to play two other MLS clubs (Houston Dynamo, Chivas USA) ... the U18s faced four other MLS youth programs this season, going 2-3-1 ... the Under-16 squad will face one other MLS club in their Showcase (Chicago Fire) ... the U16s faced four other MLS youth programs this season, also going 2-3-1 … the Under-14s faced three MLS youth programs this season, going 1-2-0 overall.
