FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Diego Fagundez is one of five nominees for MLS Etihad Airways player of the month for May. In helping the Revs go 4-1-0 and surge into first place in the Eastern Conference, Fagundez scored four goals and added two assists in five games. He is now second on the team in goals and tied for first in assists.
Voting for the May player of the month is now open at mlssoccer.com, and will remain open through 3 a.m. ET on Thursday, June 5. The May Etihad Airways player of the month will be announced on mlssoccer.com later Thursday morning.
Fagundez is nominated with:
- Kansas City’s Dom Dwyer: six goals in seven games … team went 2-3-2 in May
- D.C.’s Fabian Espindola: three goals, two assists in six games … team went 3-2-1 in May
- Seattle Obafemi Martins: three goals, two assists in six games … team went 4-1-1 in May
- Salt Lake’s Javier Morales: four goals, three assists in five games … team went 3-1-1 in May
On top of his torrid scoring pace this month, Fagundez is also set to graduate from Fitchburg, Massachusetts’ Goodrich Academy on Thursday, June 5. He has completed his high school education on time – in four years – while playing professionally full-time since 2012.
