FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has begun its third and final leg of preseason training in Tucson, Ariz., where the team will compete in the Desert Diamond Cup, which begins Wednesday and is hosted by FC Tucson (PDL).


The Revs will remain Tucson until Sunday, March 2, when they are scheduled to return to Foxborough. The tournament includes four other MLS clubs – Chivas USA, the Chicago Fire, the Colorado Rapids and Real Salt Lake – as well the host club FC Tucson.


The Revs will compete in round-robin matches on Wednesday, Feb. 19, Saturday Feb. 22, and Wednesday, Feb. 26, before placement matches are played on Saturday, March 1. This is the third straight year the Revs have competed in the Desert Diamond Cup.

Schedule update: NYRB match moved to June 8

The Revolution’s home match against the New York Red Bulls has been moved to Sunday, June 8, and will now kick off at 5 p.m. … the match was originally scheduled for Saturday, June 7, and has been pushed back one day in conjunction with the Mexico-Portugal match now scheduled for Friday, June 6, at Gillette Stadium … VIEW FULL SCHEDULE


Two Academy players join first team in Tucson

Two Revolution Academy players – Under-16 goalkeeper Austin Aviza (Medway, Mass.) and Under-18 midfielder Zach Herivaux (Brookline, Mass.) – have joined the Revolution’s first team this week in Tucson, Ariz., for part of its second preseason trip … Aviza and Herivaux are part of the team’s preseason roster that trains in Tucson while competing in the Desert Diamond Cup … they will be in Tucson through Sunday, Feb. 23, to coincide with Massachusetts’ school vacation week

Jersey launch set for March 4

The Revolution will unveil its new 2014 kits on Tuesday, March 4, at Royale Night Club (279 Tremont St., Boston, Mass.) … the new kits – which include re-designed jerseys, shorts and socks – will debut during a special fashion show that will conclude the evening … a part of Major League Soccer’s “Jersey Week,” the theme of the night is “Made in New England.” … the program will also include a special video tribute to the Revolution’s New England roots.

Media Day to be held in conjunction with jersey launch

In addition to the official Jersey Launch party, the Revolution’s annual Media Day will be held on Tuesday, March 4, at Royale (279 Tremont St., Boston, Mass.) … Media Day is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., with Revolution president Brian Bilello, general manager Michael Burns and head coach Jay Heaps hosting a panel discussion and question and answer period, followed by availability with the entire 2014 roster at 5:30 p.m. … media attending Media Day are invited to stay for the official jersey launch at 7 p.m.


Portugal and Mexico set to meet at Gillette

Before the Mexican and Portuguese national teams make their way to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, they’ll face off inan international friendly at Gillette Stadium … on June 6, Cristiano Ronaldo will lead Portugal against Javier Hernandez and Mexico in a final tune up before the World Cup … kick off is set for 8:30 p.m., and tickets will go on sale to the general public on February 24 at 10 a.m., and start at $40.


Boston RevGirls Search Final set for Feb. 19

After a postponement because of severe weather, the Boston-area Rev Girl Search Final has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19, at The Greatest Bar (262 Friend St., Boston, Mass.) … the event will determine the final members for one of the New England Revolution’s 2014 promotional teams … the event will run from 9 p.m. until 11 p.m., with the following celebrity judges scheduled to determine the newest RevGirls:



2014 Pub Tour final stop rescheduled

The third and final Pub Tour stop has officially been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 12, at Ri Ra in Providence, R.I. … midfielder Scott Caldwell and defenders Kevin Alston and Andrew Farrell are all scheduled to appear … the night kicks off at 7 p.m. with the three players expected to arrive at 7:30 p.m. … there is no cover charge for the event and it is open to the general public and fans of all ages.


Turf Tour returns in mid-February

The Revs will host its annual Turf Tour at regional sports centers this winter, with pre-selected children having the opportunity to participate in a special clinic … each event will include a soccer clinic, appearance by Revolution mascot Slyde and raffles to win special Revs prizes … the clinics will be run by Revolution Academy coaches, and at the last stop, three Revs players will help with the clinic.

National Anthem auditions to be held March 19

The Revs are giving local musicians the opportunity to perform in the same venue where superstars like One Direction, George Strait and Tim McGraw will play this summer … the Revolution is looking for talented soloists, groups, instrumentalists and other unique musicians to perform the anthem for the team’s 2014 home games at Gillette Stadium … performers who wish to be considered should submit their sample performances digitally between now and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 … a select group of performers from among those submitting samples in advance will be called back for the live final auditions, which will be held at The Lansdowne Pub (9 Lansdowne St., Boston, Mass.) on Wednesday, March 19, at 6 p.m. … interested performers should submit the following information to anthems@revolutionsoccer.net:
