Lee Nguyen vs. D.C. United

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has re-signed midfielder Lee Nguyen, who is entering his third year with the team. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We’re pleased we were able to reach a new agreement with Lee,” General Manager Michael Burns said. “He's been an important player for us the past two seasons on and off the field, and we believe he'll continue being a key contributor moving forward.”

Nguyen, 27, has appeared in 63 matches combined in the last two seasons. He has scored nine goals while adding nine assists in his two campaigns in New England.

After joining the Revolution in March 2012 via the Waiver Draft from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Nguyen went on to earn the Revolution’s 2012 team MVP by the club’s fans following a five-goal, two assist season. His goal against Vancouver was also one of four finalists for MLS AT&T Goal of the Year. In 2013, Nguyen made 33 starts and scored four goals while adding seven assists.

The former U.S. youth and senior international played in Europe and South East Asia before coming to MLS. He began his career in Holland with PSV Eindhoven before moving to Randers FC. Following two more seasons in Demark, he moved to Vietnam, where he played for Hoang Anh Gia and Becamex Binh Duong FC before returning to MLS.
