FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution players – Kevin Alston, Darrius Barnes, Stephen McCarthy and Lee Nguyen – will jump behind the bar on Thursday, Sept. 5, to guest-bartend for charity. The Revs’ star players will trade their cleats for cocktail shakers at Rí Rá Providence (50 Exchange Terrace, Providence, R.I.) as they mix, pour and serve drinks for fans.

All tips the players receive during the event, cash or credit, will be donated directly to the St. Baldrick's Foundation – a volunteer-driven and donor-centered charity dedicated to funding childhood cancer research. Since 2005, St. Baldrick’s has awarded more than $125 million to support lifesaving research, making the Foundation the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants.

While cancer affects millions of lives each year, it is a disease especially close to the Revolution this season. Revs defender and guest-bartender Kevin Alston – who returned to the team in July after an indefinite leave of absence battling chronic myelogenous leukemia – knows firsthand the importance of raising funds for such a worthy cause.

“We all love bartending at these events and it’s always a great time meeting our fans in a different setting.” said Alston. “With the proceeds being directed to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, we’re looking forward to a strong turnout on Sept. 5 at Ri Ra so we can help raise money for childhood cancer research and end this awful disease.”

The celebrity bartending event will kick-off at 6 p.m. at Rí Rá, with the players serving up cocktails from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The Rev Girls will also be on site to take photos and distribute giveaways to fans.

There is no cover charge for the event and fans are encouraged to come out and support the St. Baldrick's Foundation and the Revs.
