2012 Supporters Cup recap
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Although the Revolution will be out of town on June 29, the Gillette Stadium field will not be empty.
Members of the Revs’ two official supporters groups – The Midnight Riders and The Rebellion – will meet at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 29 and vie for the Supporters Cup. All funds raised through the event will be donated to The One Fund Boston.
The Midnight Riders won the first installment of the Supporters Cup last season and are looking forward to defending its title. Gillette Stadium’s Patriot Place gate (located at the north end of the stadium under the bridge and lighthouse in the nrg Plaza) will open at 6:30 p.m. for spectators.

“The Midnight Riders are very much looking forward to taking the field at Gillette again to defend their title of supporters cup champions,” Fran Harrington, president of the Midnight Riders, said. “While we look to the Rebels as brothers in the Fort, on June 29 they will be our opponents, and we will be playing to win.”
“This year we will be playing for One Fund Boston. We encourage everyone to come out and watch the match even if they are not playing and then join us at CBS Scene after to watch the Revs take on Chivas USA. It's going to be a great day for all Revs fans,” Harrington continued.
Last year’s result is still fresh in the minds of the Rebellion, a sentiment echoed by Mark Purkis,a member of the Rebellion’s executive board.
“We’re honored to be part of the Supporters Cup once again. Obviously, last year is in the back of our minds and it won’t be hard to use that as motivation. We expect the Riders to bring their A game like last year, and we will be ready. We want the cup in its rightful place of the Rebellion side of the Supporters Lot.”
Purkis also touched on the importance of what this year’s Supporters Cup represents.
“Having this year's match for The One Fund Boston is important. Obviously, what happened at the Boston Marathon has touched all of us and it is important to show our support. Rebels or Riders, we are all Boston Strong,” Purkis said.
Revolution President Brian Bilello will serve as the game’s special referee, while Revs staff members will help stage the event and support Bilello’s reffing efforts.
Following the match, both supporters groups will host an away-game viewing party at the CBS Scene at Patriot Place, as the Revs battle Chivas USA at 10:30 p.m. ET. All Revolution fans are welcome to attend.
